But still, where does it say that they were weaker than Kirin Tor? They may have been "largely wiped out" but so where their entire kingdom.Perhaps weaker is the wrong term; I think the biggest reason they got wiped out(besides Medivh/Sargeras) was because they were more secretive, and didn't want to work with Dalaran and the Tor, even when they saw their deaths approaching on a green tide.

is a pity that we don't have a summoner class other than the warlock, it would had been neat-o to have a summoner class that specializes on summoning diferent elementals.............. err well we have the shammys :P I am still praying that on cataclysm they add the "Summon Air elemental totem" and "Summon Water elemental Totem"

Water elemental's been taken my mages, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did, eventually.

ok addams, time to continue a little lore debate we had a while ago about sargeras (I've been away from the forums because I was playing the ever-awesome DRAGON AGE videogame, and I strongly encourage everyone to play it and no, it's not an MMORPG or online game whatsoever, it's single-player only)
on our debate addams, we debated what was the fate of sargeras...........
I had said that the new rewritten lore from the war of the ancients had killed sargeras (well killed his physical form, he still exists)
my reasoning was that on the original war of the ancients, the night-elves were working on a portal to bring sargeras to azeroth, and this portal was closed off BEFORE he stepped inside our world.
but when krasus, ronin and brox traveled to the past, the time-line was severely altered (among other things, hakkar the houndmaster was killed on the past rather than on the third war, the well of eternity was destroyed as an accident rather than an actual plan by the resistance, Illidan didn't betrayed his people on purpose, he did so to destroy them from within, and tyrande was an inocent angel, rather than the heartless woman she was on Warcraft 3)
the main thing that was altered, was that during the new re-written battle, the night elves succeeded in opening the portal, and sargeras was able to "start" to step inside, and while he was mid-way through the portal collapsed.
he still didn't set foot on our world, but he was partly inside the portal when it closed, and that caused his body to be ripped asunder, killing him so to speak.
sargeras is not dead "per se" his spirit still lingers on the twisting nether, and he can comunicate with every soldier in the burning legion, but he cannot manifest physically anymore.
he hasn't found a suitable body able to contain his titanic power, so he needs the magic of a thousand worlds to regen his body.
the reason blizz did this was to delay our confrontation with him, because if he was still whole and able, he would had come himself on the sunwell rather than kil'jaeden.
for now, the interin (SP?) leader of the legion is kil'jaeden, since archimonde is dead, and sargeras has no physical manifestation anymore.
what aegwynn fought was an avatar of sargeras, and when medivh was killed off that fraction of his being was sent back to the twisting nether.
and here is the segment of the book "the sundering" from the war of the ancients trilogy
And then a thing happened that Krasus could never have dreamed possible. Sargeras, refusing to believe his defeat,
stepped within
the crumbling portal itself, trying both to rebuild it and cross through. His desire to do so proved his undoing. As the portal imploded, the demon lord found himself
trapped
. He could not flee, could not pull back. Dropping his sword, the titan even battered against the gateway with his fists, but to no avail. The corridor between realms shrank rapidly, at last crushing in on him. Sargeras roared and his voice echoed in the heads of all.
I WILL NOT BE DENIED! I WILL NOT!
But the gateway continued to condense and Sargeras seemed to condense with it. He struggled to keep the way open, the interior of the gate aflame from his titanic efforts.
And then, with the demon lord still shouting his rage and beating at the walls…the portal ceased to be.
Sargeras ceased to be.
also, on sargera's page on wowwiki, there is this article, wich includes a fragment of an interview to richard a kanaak.
In the novel War of the Ancients, Krasus, Rhonin, and Brox are thrown back in time and are able to help the demi-god Cenarius and the dragon Aspects fight the Burning Legion. Once again, in this new timeline, Sargeras’ first invasion of Azeroth failed. Sargeras was in the middle of the portal when it imploded and he ceased to be.
Richard A. Knaak said in an earlier interview:
Sargeras ceased to be in the sense of his physical being in the mortal world of Azeroth. He was cast into limbo, so to speak, as Blizzard wanted. Otherwise, he pretty much would have immediately returned to try to destroy Azeroth again. 'Ceased to be' was used specifically for that reason.
so, while he IS very much alive, he lacks a body, and it's trapped in limbo till he finds a new vessel that can store his unlimited power, the article of the burning legion on wowwiki lists kil'jaeden as their leader "in the absence of sargeras" making a point that he is there only temporarily, until the day comes (if it comes) that sargeras regains enough power to manifest himself physically.

Possibly, but it would be twisted beyond belief by Sargeras' powers for sure.

to be able to live in a body, it has to be a powerfull body, strong enough to store his power, if he hasn't used kil'jaeden, you can guess just how much power he has that not even kil'jaeden can contain it.
most likely he has to possess another titan, maybe even a member of the pantheon.

Or create a new one from scratch.

Or create a new one from scratch.
exactly, right now, sargeras is trapped in limbo, and his only options to escape are to either find a new host capable of containing his unlimited power, or harness enough energy from diferent worlds to be able to re-manifest himself in physical form once more (and hopefully wait till portals are completed before trying to step inside :P)
makes me wonder though, why haven't the burning legion traveled to other worlds? azeroth has kicked their asses 3 times already, they should had taken the hint that no matter how much they try, they can't win.
wound't it make more sence if the burning legion invaded a dozen weaker worlds, harnessed their energy, and used it to recreate the body of sargeras?
then with sargeras completed, they would return to azeroth and have their revenge.........
=O woops, let's hope the legion doesn't read wowhead xD I just gave'em the plan of the century :P

The Legion may fight in many fronts. We simply don't know.
they may fight on many fronts, but their main leadership and main force is hellbent on conquering azeroth.
after all, on every assault the big-cheese on the legion is at the front allways (first sargeras on the first invation, then archimonde on the second invation, and then kil'jaeden on the never-fullfilled third invation on the sunwell)
the point is they trow their best at azeroth, when they could really focus all their energy on several weaker worlds, conquer them, drain them of their energy, and give it to sargeras, so that he can regain his physical form again.
then with their leader completed, come back to azeroth and wipe it out.
it would make more sence than trying recklessly to trow their best at us without the aid of their mightiest force, the fallen titan Sargeras, who could easily wipe out all armed forces on azeroth in a matter of minutes.

If that was true, then we wouldn't have won the War of the Ancients, nor would Sargeras even think about making up the "Plan Medivh". He would just come here and wtfpwnzor us all
we won the war of the ancients precicely because sargeras was not allowed to enter, had he finish to enter the portal, that war would had been lost.
and about the "plan medivh" it was all part of the legion's plan to pave the way to their return, remember that by this point sargeras is already "ceased to be" in the sence that he has no body at all, and exists only as hell i don't know, some spirit....... energy-e-i thing......... incorporeal...... somwhere.
he pooled the last remnants of his power to make his avatar of sargeras, wich was what aegwynn defeated, and after the death of medivh, the sargeras fragment inside him was sent back to the twisting nether.
Anyways, if Power is their only problem when it comes to ressurecting Sargeras then they would just channel it from the Nether
maybe nether isn't the power needed to bring back sargeras, after all azeroth isn't made of nether power, it's made of living magic, the essence of nature, the spirits of the elements that conform the world, this is what the legion seeks, if they wanted nether power, the twisting nether is an unlimited chaotic well of endless arcana power.
Nonetheless, it seems that the Legion don't even know about the Dark Titan's survival.
they do, after all sargeras talks to varimathras on the battle for undercity, so the legion knows the fate of their leader.
the whole point of the legion is to undo the work of the pantheon, bring chaos to every world, and ransack the living essence of all worlds to empower sargeras (and now that he has no body, the living essence, of the worlds is extracted to reconstruct his body)
what still puzzles me, is why-o-why must it be azeroth's energy to revive him? I mean if the legion extracted energy from other weaker worlds, they would had their leader reconstructed, and then the only obstacle between them and total victory would be to open-up a portal large enough to bring sargeras to azeroth.
who here want's another expantion in a diferent world? I wanna visit another planet, one with diferent continents, overall, it seems that cataclysm will take place on ravaged azeroth and on top of that they will add the elemental planes as the new zones (such as deepholme, abisal maw, and the other 2)

I believe that Arcane magic is the very essence of life. After all the Well of Eternity was a life giving source.Plus, Azeroth is 'chosen' world, something the Titans took a lot of effort to create, and even put a shield over the planet to keep out the Legion. So right there, it's a Triple reason to destroy it in the eyes of the Demon hordes.
And a thought has just occured to me.... what if the Shield around Azeroth isn't meant to keep the Legion out, but to keep something in? Like our favorite tentacled Elder Godlings.
