Change of topic for a bit, but this really bothers me. Prophet velen is of purple skin color in game, but in rise of the horde, he is described as "alabaster white". In the recently released wolfheart, he is yet again described as "alabaster white". Both novels are by different authors.
Wtf? Why is blizzard describing him as white in the books when he is purple in game?
Hard to see past his white Beard of Awesome?

Once again, the only reason he looks purple is the lighting of the Exodar's interior.
Make a white draenei and run to Exodar; you look purple in most areas.

The art depicts him as purple too tho....

Dark purple.
On another note, he looks pretty badass on that picture.

Dark purple.
Notice the glowing purple crystals illuminating him? Same thing with the icon.
Look down at his leg and tail. He is normally a light blue, nearly white. The shadows make it look darker.

for the same reasons as why Oshu'gun is described as a perfect triangular structure, and yet ingame, its nothing like that at all.
Author's POV =/= Gamedesigners POV.
For that matter, Thrall's wolf Snowsong has allways been white, yet for misterious reasons that nobody can fathom, in warcraft 3 he rode a black wolf.
There's a SH1TLOAD of discrepancies between what we read in the books and what actually happens in the game. (Few examples: the election of the new aspect of magic, the elemental attack on orgrimmar, the skin color of Velen, ect)
Edit: another discrepancy (and one that wasn't fixed till MUCH later)
In Rise of the Horde its stated that the ship used by the Draenei to flee Argus, was Oshu'gun, a vessel made of diamonds that forever landed in Nagrand. BUT, during the early advertisements of the first expansion, Tempest Keep, was advertised as the vessel used by our tentacled friends to flee Argus :P
another "whoops" moment by our dear devs. xD
Edit 2: There's no point denying it, Its VERY unlikely that the devs actually READ the books they order their authors to write. At best, they have others (the people in charge of their contracts) that glance the books to make sure the authors stayed within the overall guidelines provided, but otherwise they dont really pay too much attention to them.
Just look at Metzen how he himself didn't knew if Falstad was alive or not (Clearly having not read Day of the Dragon himself)
and Atik, dont argue on this one bro', Velen is purple, its not a lighting effect, he shows up in swamps of sorrows, a place where no tricks of illumination are present and he is still purple. for further proof, his very on model viewer in wowhead also depicts him as purple. He IS purple ingame, but completely white lorewise.

It's a specific type of being
; not something folded into other classes; there are also the frost versions known as Cryomancers which were part of the RPG, as was the Pyromancer class.
Right, I'm just saying it also say's lorgrain is a shaman. A pyromancer shaman. He even uses flame shock, a shaman spell.
No, he's not; Pryomancers fall under the magi categories.

Because the game rarely matches the actual lore descriptions? And you have to suspend belief at times.

The same with Lor'themar's eye. He needs some more badassery in-game, an Eyepatch of Power won't hurt.

Eh, I like his eye scar
; that's bad arse enough without over loading it with a patch.

Unrelated.
Unless they make Abyssal Maw raid in 4.3 (which I doubt), it kind of implies that if we get to see Neptulon in full power (possessed by Ozumat or whatever), that would mean we'd have to wait until the next expansion.
Making him stronger than Al, Rag and The by a HUGE margin, right?

Or just a victim of circumstance. As others have said, I doubt that the time that somebody's raid is introduced really has a large effect on their power. I see Kael'thas as more powerful than pretty much everyone in the first tier of raids of Wrath, but he was killed in the first tier of raids in BC.

Well....in the RP books, Nept was said to be the strongest of the Elemental Lords, as well as the most neutral of them.....whether or not that still holds of course, is up in the air.
And I think we'll see the continuation of the Nept/Maw in the next expansion, if it really does end up being as sea oriented as the hints are pointing at.

Part of that held true so far, though I don't know if the Naga's success against the Water army, as compared to the Twilight's overwhelming failure against Earth, is due to Neptulon not being that powerful or the fact that it was a sneak attack directly reinforced by an army of faceless.
I'd say it was due to the Old God influence that was there all through the fight leading up to his capture both times; the Faceless army and Ozumat, as well as the Naga's getting some power ups(or so it seemed) from their benefactor(doesn't the leader of the attack say something along those lines?).
As for the Twilights fail against Therazane and Deepholme....well, the Twilights were their standard mookselves in that so it's to be expected. Plus, she was really really really really really really really pissed about what Deathwing had done......

aww man, :S so much for the "war of the ancients" instance being that.
Well, as reported on the front page, the 3 new 5mans for 4.3 will definitly be some major awesome sh1t, but sadly, our trip to the war of the ancients wont be as I imagined it.
I mean, our previous trips to the past so far have been to the full event.
When we traveled back in time to rescue thrall from durnhold we saw the whole escape from start to finish, when we traveled to black morass to witness the opening of the dark portal we also saw the whole thing, when we traveled to the ending of the third war, we also saw the whole thing.
And the same on our fourth trip, we traveled to the culling of stratholm and saw the whole thing.
However, as revealed now that the NDA is lifted, our 3 new trips through time will be diferent.
First trip, is actually to the future O_o, nozdormu takes us to an alternate timeline where deathwing is not defeated, call it "tough motivation" to further make us fight better, :P nothing like seeing what kind of crapsack world awaits us if we dont win. Its a VERY cool concept, I've allways wanted a CoT instance that takes us to the future instead of the past (or even better, an alternate version of the present). In this case, is a mix of both my wishes. since we travel to an alternate future. one that isn't set in stone (yet)
Disappointment takes its cue on the second one however =/
I was imagining that our trip to War of the Ancients, would be because agents of the infinite dragonflight were screwing arround with our timelines again, and it was our job, to travel back into the past, and have an epic war instance similar to the Hyjal raid. Seeing either the whole war, or the best parts of it (Such as deathwing unleashing the demon soul, the battle at the well, the night elven host (along with the tauren earthen furbolg and ancient armies), and more cool stuff)
Instead, our trip to the past seems to be MUCH more limited. It seems we will make use of VERY desperate measures to ensure we kill deathwing. We travel back only to the very end of War of the Ancients, in order to help thrall commit the riskier heist in the history (stealth-pun FTW =D)
WE'RE GONNA STEAL THE MOTHERF*bleep*KING DEMON SOUL! RIGHT THERE SITTING ON TOP OF THE WELL JUST AS SARGERAS WAS ABOUT TO EMERGE!
the planned bosses are mannoroth (who ironically will be MUCH stronger than his present version chained up in hellfire citadel) and the grand debut of our favorite busty little b1tch Azshara. Sadly, continuity dictates that we wont kill them (a pity, I am still looking forward to teach some manners to that crazy-ass Queenie)
=/ while this on itself is pretty cool, it means we will miss out all the big moments of the war of the ancients, U_U we teleport litteraly at the end.
I shudder to think of the consequences of Thrall (an orc) wielding the demon soul (granted, Thrall is A MILE AWAY different than scum like Nekros or Gul'dan, but it does says a lot that a dragon like nozdormu, would help an orc to steal that wretched thing :P AGAIN (XD first one was D-wing) I guess he earned their full trust in the latest book. Considering they each gave him a scale, this isn't hard to guess.)
The third 5man isn't a trip to neither past nor future, its like the prologue of the raid (nice VERY NICE touch :P the raid starts EXACTLY where this 5man ends)
We escort Thrall to the shattered ruins of Wyrmrest temple, in order to have him deliver a righteous dragon asskicking with the demon soul, battling 6 bosses, and ending in a fight with deathwing (a DIRECT battle. Not a pepe le pew rip off like we had with arthas on Halls of Reflection) At the end of this battle, D-wing is wounded with the demon soul, and tries to flee, and that's where the raid starts, we fight on his back as he flees through several parts of the world. Ending in a final showdown at the maelstrom.
All in all, sounds neat, this means, D-wing's raid would be the first boss fight that wont take place in a lair of some sorts. In fact his raid is simply called "The Dragon Soul" because it doesn't take place in any fortified structure of any kind. Deathwing flees from us, we give chase. We even get to peel off his armor plate :P (yuck, those must STINK badly, 10000 years without bathing must not be good for your hygiene)
well my fellow lore-geeks, let the grand discussion/seculation regarding the lore of all this stuff BEGIN!
Edit: ohh and btw, as an added bonus Ysera FINNALY gets her own f*bleep*king
model
About damn time. Having dragon aspects using regular dragon models is just WRONG. Now nozdormu is the last one needing his own unique dragon model.

I don't think we're going to end up stealing the Soul.....since you know, there's no real freaking point to it, as Deathwing was immune to the effects of the thing.....
