How hard would it have been to hire some actual british voice actors? Would anyone else have liked to see Stephen Fry as a Worgen? :P
Much harder than you think, considering Blizzard has a history of not splurging a lot for voice-acting talent (which is surprising that they use Cam Clarke so much.)Well, how much money do they make per month? They should splurge a little.

fixed.
and ya know, wow has a rough estimate of 12 million players, paying 15 dollars per month, wich means that just on wow-subscriptions alone, they make 2.160.000.000 dollars per year. This is not including what they earn from the sales of the actual games, plus the wow merchandise, plus warcraft 3, plus starcraft, plus diablo.
they can,and should hire more people to do their voice acting, is not like they lack a budget. I've seen companies with much lower incomes having MUCH better actors (bioware comes to mind)

That's the gross gain. I expect that the net is much smaller.
Not against more voice actors, it'd be sweet, but still.

*coughs* well, ....... yhea, but still, that is a buckload of money on subscriptions alone, add to that already colosal amount all the $$ they make from the paid acount services, comics, action figures, books, toys, plush pets, ingame pets, ingame mounts, and the actual games, then add all the merchandise from their other 2 major franchises, Starcraft and Diablo.
All I'm saying is that other companies don't make as much money as blizzard does, and yet they still hire amazing actors. Konami really hired some damn good ones for Metal Gear Solid, Bioware allways has top-notch ones for their games (Mass effect, dragon age, Jade empire, neverwinter, ect ect) and many many others.
just getting actual british people (even if they aren't big names) to voice the gilneans wound't had been so hard. It would had been MUCH better than hire american actors to do an epic fail of fake-brit accent.
and this is not even mentioning the "Disasterrific" spanish dub voice actors, who's quality stinks so much even skunks are offended.

It's more than a question of being good or bad at it. For example, I like Cam Clarke, enough to Wikipedia the dude and inspire a bull@#$% conspiracy theory by Blizzard, and for a popular voice actor, he has a lot of range. However, Blizzard doesn't exploit that at all, having the male BE voice, Malygos AND Lor'themar sound exactly alike.
Even if they did get good voice actors, or at least well-known ones (Oh my god JYB voicing anyone in Warcraft would be probably atrocious and yet hilarious at the same time), they wouldn't know what to do with them.
You want to check out a company that does good things with voice actors? Atlus USA - not the biggest budget, but the voice acting in their games is generally top notch.Heh, Cam Clarke sounds the same in a lot of places. I've heard his Blood Elf/Malygos voice on both the English dub of Naruto and Avatar: The Last Airbender... :P
Well, just hire more people. There are tons of aspiring actors and actresses out there who would be happy to lend their voice to WoW.

how come nobody mentions that cam clark did the voice of Liquid Snake on Metal Gear Solid? and yes, thanks for pointing at Atlus bro'
indeed this isnt' a big budget company like blizzard, and yet their games have a superb voice acting, I loved the cast used both on Persona 3, and Persona 4.

Would be funny if they had some brummy accents in, instead of the stereotypical old London accent.

Fix'd. I personally don't like the Brummy accent, haha, but I agree that RP and some abominable bastardisation of Cockney shouldn't be the only 'British accents' that are mostly attempted in non-British media. ;)

Recieved Pronunciation. But both of those are almost a description of it. ;) Watch BBC news or something, you'll hear it clearly then. :P
