Well, for one, they're poorly written from a writing standpoint. If they weren't about WoW, I wouldn't read them. The dialogue and randomly emphasized words are just ridiculous.
Second, it seems that DC has to emphasize their action figures at every possible opportunity. That's where Rehgar, Broll, Valeera, Maraad, and a bunch of others have come from. Lore Thrall would not have taken Rehgar, a former slavemaster, as an advisor, for example.
Next, they keep coming up with increasingly implausible/unbelievable storylines. Varian was split in two by Onyxia and lost his memory? Unlikely. Garona and Medivh had überbaby when we weren't looking? More unlikely. Cho'gall's not actually dead like was confirmed in ToD? Also unlikely.
Point is, they're not exactly the pinnacle of good writing.

Saurfang the Younger.

to add as to why I doubt the comic's writing, the characters they add are simply too wacky and sueish.
Med'an the fantastic prodigy that somehow managed to become a mage+shaman+priest, and still finds time to feel a low self-steem, jump into reckless action to save a mother he's never known and more.
also, anduin got a really bad line on that comic "they seem sad somehow, but these seem kinda......... Cool"
overall the comics during their first issues were nothing more than a publicity campaing to mix varian on the lore of a game that has existed for 4 years without him (u can't just put someone of major magnitude like that out of the blue and expect plp to embrace them)
and the new issue is just a major publicity campaing to add med'an on cataclysm (wich seems more than likely).
overall, they aren't that good, and as skreeran said, if they were unrelated to warcraft, 80% of their readers would dump them and not buy the others.
not to mention they really love to add qualitys that are out of character for our lore, and let's be honest, the first 8 issues were HORRIBLY alliance biased.
their depiction of warsong gulch sucks, is like they are trying to make the horde look like the new burning legion or something.
not to mention that the only orcs they've bothered to add to the comics behave dishonorably (exept thrall) why haven't they added saurfang? why haven't they added eitrigg? why haven't they added drek'tar? why haven't they added any of the good noble honorable members of the horde? because they needed them to be the bad guys.
this was somewhat fixed on the third volume (issues 15 to today) but the damage has been done already.

They are strip cutting in Ashenvale, even thought they know it's Night Elf territory.
As for the others stuff; Saurfang was there for the summit at Theramore. Drek'thar is leading the Frostwolves, so not really a reason to have him in there. Eitrigg is going north.
But, in January now, it's splitting in two; one comic for Horde and one for Alliance.

I was expecting his axe to do the talking if u catch my drift xD
besides one single panel, wiht a single line, and then remain as a red-shirt background character is not what the venerable saurfang deserves.
Drek'tar should had taken reghar's place, and saurfang should had taken garrosh place.
bahh, why is metzen letting my horde be butchered like that? =( this is not what I signed for, that's some fine print rite there

Horde contract:
u're gonna join an honorable faction, that is fighting for their survival, as well as their redemption of their dark past, as well as to secure their place in the world with strenght and honor.......................... but after 2 expantions you will become the bad guys, will devastate the world, will become the same bloodthirsty savages of the early wars, and your beloved thrall will be replaced"

I've already thrown out all the thoughts I can muster on the subject of Garrosh leading the Horde.
I want Thrall to lead the Horde against the Alliance.(Can't remember the thread I said that in...)
If the leader has to want war with the Alliance, Nazgrel is a better choice.
I will be willing to accept Garrosh if only a few simple questions were answered.

Here's my thoughts:
I love Saurfang. I want him to continue to be alive and be awesome.
Thrall is the best Warchief we've ever had, and I don't see why he has to step down.
Varian wants to exterminate my race, or at least break their spirit, but I still don't support Garrosh's conquest-style foreign policy.
War is unnecessary, and will only cause more innocents to die on both sides.
I hope Saurfang beats Garrosh so hard that he is forced to use a catheter.

War is unnecessary
I disagree with this statement in terms of the real world and Warcraft, but the former I'll leave for another conversation.
I think that the orcs need the war. So that they'll have temptation to use their latent bloodlust. If they can resist the temptations of the bloodlust, then they will have proven to the world that they truly are the redeemed people they claim to be.
You can't have redemption without temptation. And there's nothing more tempting than an all-out war with your most hated enemies.
I agree that it would cause unnecessary deaths, but continuing on that goes into my thoughts on the real world aspect, so I won't touch on it.

I don't think all war is unnecessary. Just this one. Varian's fighting a war to exterminate or enslave the Horde, which isn't necessary, and Garrosh is fighting 'cause he thinks war is fun. It's not needed.
What I think should happen is Varian going forward with his plan.
Have the Alliance wipe out a Horde village or something (and have Varian support it). Then we (the Horde) will be fighting for survival, not just because "war is awesome lol."

I couldn't find a retcon, but I found an odd phrasing:
They would become known as the blades of Quel'Serrar. One of these blades, which had become lost in time, was recently unearthed again by brave heroes of Azeroth. Now rediscovered, Quel'Serrar is revered once more as a mighty tool of raw power.
This seems to indicate that there are more than just Quel'Serrar and Quel'Dalar... but why would one of them be called "Quel'Serrar" by name, where all of the others are "blades of Quel'Serrar"? Does that mean that "Quel'Serrar" actually has a different name or what?
Or is this more than just an odd phrasing and is the retcon in question?
In other words... I can haz cookie?
