Got a quick question regarding weapon enchants now that the new patch is here and they've changed the stamina talent to strength for the amount of spell power you get.
Up until now i've been using bladeward on Peacekeeper Blade but tonight in Ulduar i got Stoneguard as its a small upgrade and no one wanted it soo yea :P
Anway i need an enchant on it and was thinking of going back to using the +63 Spellpower one as my spellpower has taken a drop since patch, was just looking for some feedback and advice really.
Thanks in advance :)

Don't enchant/gem/gear for spellpower as a prot paladin. It's a terrible idea and has been since 3.0.

Bladeward has been a lot better than it's original release since 3.2.1
For raid tanking you should go after bladeward or mongoose, pick pick whichever helps you stay at a 3:2 dodge:parry ratio (unless you're not hitting harsh DRs in one or the other)

1.) Just for your own knowledge. If you want to link something int he forums so you can hover over it and read tool tips or item information the best way to do it is as follows
{url=URL_OF_ITEM}Text that you want linked{/url}
Just replace all of the { } with and your links should come out looking good.
2.) I went to the
Paladin class skills page
and looked at all the tanking abilities that i use. Most of them had the damage formulas on them. If there was a formula that used Spell power, it used AP as well for the same amount.
SP*0.04 + AP*0.004
So just by that alone, IF you did want to enchant a weapon with something, to increase these formulas, then you would go for
Enchant Weapon - Superior Potency
instead because it adds 65 AP instead of the 63 spell power.
I don't even know why I took the 5 minutes to type that, because I need to agree fully and completely with MischievousLoki on this one. Enchanting for this will not increase your threat by a notable amount and your much better off getting
Enchant Weapon - Blade Ward
or
Enchant Weapon - Blood Draining
Go Go debate on which one is better.
hell if I know,

Hat

Blood Draining = 2k hp.
EH > all.
Blood Draining > all.
Blade Ward = +Parry%
Parry deflects melee boss hit.
I'm sensing a pattern developing.

It's rare that I can look at my buffs while tanking and
not
see the blade ward buff with 1-2 stacks at least.
It's hard to test, but WMO is telling me it proc'd just a few times less than I cast holy shield, 10% total uptime, but it gets used up quickly. it hit 86 times over the course of a night, doing 1.2% of my total damage. But it's crit chance seems incredibly low, only once out of those 86 (1.1%).

You'll typically run into higher DR on Mongoose, though, with the prevalence of dodge rating on tanking gear. That's not really true, as parry hits harsh DR earlier than dodge.

TL;DR Guide to Paladin Weapon Enchanting
Blade ward
sucks.
Blood Draining
is not bad if what youre killing doesnt die in 30 sec.
Accuracy
is best for threat starved fights.
Agility
is
97%
as good as dodge for EH.
Mongoose
is good for the looks only. (tanking is about control)
Potency
is our default.

Hmm, according to my meter from last night, I parried 100 times and 38 of those triggered damage from blade warding.
I'm sorry, I just don't see why you hate it so much. If it has one glaring flaw, it's that it's so hard to measure it's value with a flat number.
I'm not saying it's the best thing since sliced bread, but I also wouldn't write it off as being instantly awful either.
I
would
however say that it's flat out better than potency (46 AP, 12 SP, 11.5 SBV).

I know that there is alot of debate over blade ward because when it first game out the proc rate was terrible for a Prot paladin. I have heard some people say that they have changed it, i have not really read any ground breaking posts about it. If anyone has a new Forum post somewhere that has some new numbers attached to it, I would love to read that.
Now, that i have world of logs running, im going to re-enchant bladeward, and start putting together my own set of averages.
If I find anything interesting I will be sure to post.
Cheers,
Hat
