I love people who think:
"I raided til X and I did fine."
You have any idea how easy it is to do "fine"? Or to be simply "good"?
I use addons because they can push me beyond what I'm capeble without, how good I'm without addons I couldn't tell. I can tell you that playing without addons is not somthing I like at al.
A bad player might become an average player with addons installed, an average one might become a good player.
Other then that, why not have an autosell to sell al greys, why not have atlasloot, why not have DBM, why not have disenchantrix, auctioneer, X-pearl, bartender, outfitter, statcompare, aggrowarnings, proc and CD addons, why not have al your inventory in one bag?
A question you can ask yourself is why you make it so hard for yourself, most of those addons don't change @#$% to you playwise, but they make it just so much easier.

A really good player without add-ons will easily be matched by an average player with add-ons (for example, DBM). Even if your awsome and can mentally keep track of the timers of all bosses abilities and phase changes, no one will know or care, cause everyone with DBM knows also without having to exert extra effort.
There's really no reason NOT to use addons like dbm which countless helpful reminders and timers that you can watch. Of course, you can always brag and say that they are a crutch for the weak but no one cares really.

I'm something of an add-on minimalist. But the one kind of add-on I will not play without is a debuff monitor. Blizzard does not make debuffs easy to track at
all

Training your self to play without the crutch of an addon can only improve your skill.
DBM is nice. Sometimes during a fight with healers focused on healing, tanks sucked into holding agro and DPSers are trying hard to top meters, having a large warning and/or sound to warn of some kind of impeding doom is very useful especially in the 4 hour of a raid on your last attempt on Yogg.
I have a healer and tank. As a healer, I prefer to not use healbot or any other 3rd party UI. I have been healing on my druid without either since vanilla. Yes, I raided MC without it. Yes, my RL new it and yes I was the best healer he had(not epeening). Blizz has only made the default raid UI better over the years. I dont use mouseovers but I do bind heals to my mouse buttons though.
There has been a very noticable trend from blizz to attempt to incorporate very popular addons into WoW's default functionality, sometimes not very well (IE.. Outfitter is still better than WoW's gear thingie). It would not surprise me that at some point, addons like healbot, will not be allowed. Don't be a healer who has only used healbot and without healbot your effectiveness is lowered to the point that you reroll because you can't heal without your crutch. I am not saying to not use healbot, if you prefer, but give healing a try without and your healing might even improve because you will be using your brain rather than having a addon tell you who to heal.
The same applies to addons that monitor procs, internal CD , etc. Learn to monitor these things on your own, then use the addon because it makes things easier.

Yea, I never have the change to click the repair button, I never have to search trouugh multiple bags, I can pin point a location because of coords, I never search for greys in my bags, I never have to go to wowhead to look what professions can craft or what bosses drop, I can actualy see wath classes I have in a raid/party without having to hover over it, I can actualy SEE people who I can dispel, I can actualy see my debuffs without having to look for it inbetween the 50+ dots/curses/whatever on a bos, I actualy get to see what ability does what damage instead of seeing just numbers, I can actualy see when somthing gets of CD instead of having to watch it al the time.
It's indeed true I'm missing out on a lot but I think our ways of "fun" are diferent, I like to skip boring daily unneccesary work and I rather focus on the stuf I should be focussing on.
And if you think it's easy I gues you cleared ToGC25 already right? Cause in my guild we don't get past Anub eventhough everyone uses addons to play the game for them.

Try watching 25 health bars on healbot start to plummet while you're a raid healing paladin, and tell me if your addons still do everything for you. There is a difference between addons and having someone think for you. Are there addons which helped me in 25 man raids to cast faster and to get a more accurate and concise overview of the state of the raid members? Yes. Are there addons that decided for me how I would triage the raid? No, and I wouldn't use them. Having a mod to help you see clearly and react faster is very, very different from having a mod to think for you.
And for the record, when I moved from EU servers to US servers I rolled a druid healer, and I've healed ten mans fine without addons (and practically without gear, so it wasn't exactly 'WGspamlolwin'), and am now using Grid just for the raid frames, not even in conjunction with Clique, and still healing fine. But back on my Paladin on EU I only ever raided with Healbot. Guess raiding with addons doesn't always destroy your ability to raid without.

You cannot make a sweeping statement like that regarding addons.
Yes, I can. Trust me if you train yourself to know how long 45 secs is you will just know. No counting, just knowing. How do I know because I do it with regrowth, rejuv, WG, lifeblooms, DK diseases, ellicpse procs. Yes, believe it. Your brain learns. Imagine that.
I didn't say don't use addons. If you think you must, then you will. All I am suggesting is raid for one month without them and get a feel for the game as it is intended.
