disc requires organization to be useful. In PvE it works great as a MT heal because we know 90% of the damage will be hitting the tank. In PvP, knowing where to throw the shield might be a harder call to make. if you are in a group or guild that PvP 's often enough to have someone actually defending the healer, then sure, disc works....

...so... do you play a Priest, or just sort of dance around pretending you know what you're doing?
Holy has far less survivability than Discipline, and its heals -- such as CoH -- require a little more finesse than simply PW:S spamming.
Basically...
Holy is not really viable because it doesn't have the necessary self mitigation of damage that disc has.
(and everything else that was said)
^ this.
With that said -- you can PvP as Holy, and there are plenty of people that have had success with it. But for the most part, Disco will be a better choice for PvP.

I tried a pvp holy build out in bgs once, and while it can put out quite a bit of hps, you go oom extremely fast. Disc on the other hand, is extremely efficient threw the use of penance (godly mana efficiency for healing done) and mana back from pw:s. Pvp is all about single target, burst healing, which disc delivers much better then holy.
Also, pain supp > guardian spirit by far, and not having pi also hurts for moments when you need some quick burst healing, damage, or burns. You might make a case for using holy for 5's, but i would also advise against this because pain supp is op in 5's, and you also lose out on .5 sec md's =(..
tl;dr holy isn't bad but disc is better in every way.

I don't have a separate PvP spec, so I just do BGs as Holy, in PvE gear.
I find it very useful when under pressure to PoM myself (usually tossing it out to someone I see taking damage instead), use GS on myself, and make good use of Desperate Prayer. As a draenei, I also use Gift for myself, since it doesn't trigger GCD. Shields are a plus, too. Sure they're not like Disc shields but it's one more thing to give me a chance to run toward help or to just confound the 3 enemies trying and failing to kill me ;) I get a huge kick out of long, drawn-out fights where I'm just busy healing myself and seeing how long I can stay alive...have surprised myself a few times -- Resto Shammy and I once defended a GY we both ended up boxed into against 4 enemies, just by healing ourselves and eachother with our backs to the cliffwall, for a stupidly long amount of time. Until they brought in 4 more. The plan had been that we might get some allies in the time we were holding it, didn't happen, but it was fun anyway.
Annoying the enemy with shadowfiend is fun, too.
I'll even, if anybody else is around, CoH myself since it's instant. Sometimes when I know I'm gonna die anyway, I CoH myself anyway since, well, I don't need mana when I'm dead and it's just one more thing for them to have to damage me through. It's more time they're spending on me, and not chasing anyone else or fulfilling any objectives.
If stunned, I make sure that I get GS or something off on myself the instant it ends. Most situations, I manage to get to help and stay alive though. And that's assuming I managed to get separated from people in the first place.
I get very good results out of AV, unless I attempt to cap or hold towers, which I've learned not to do (stupid LoS). Tower defenses use few players, anyway, which means that other healers may actually be more useful...and I'm depriving the main force of a raid healer.
If I manage not to get separated from people, I have a reasonable time of it in WG, also...when my framerate isn't horrid...sadly, it generally is. =(
The thing with Holy is that you're most efficient in a large group. You're just a little limited in where you can go and when, though I've certainly helped out in smaller fights, too. So for example in AV I help destroy that first base at midfield, then move on toward Drek's and help out there (helping with the supply hut flag and healing those who are destroying the towers).
At level 80 I don't have any problems with mana and almost never drink in BGs. My 33 lolsmiter (who I BG with a completely different way given the tools at her disposal), DOES have to drink in BGs despite being Energizer, but I chalk that up to the pace of BGs and the fact she's, y'know, level 33 ;)
Might I have better success as Disc in BGs? Oh, possibly, I'd certainly have more flexibility. But it doesn't really suit my playstyle...I really enjoy running as Holy.

I play a priest. I play it in PvE actually very well. I just have minimal exp in PvP, sorry for my intrusion into your most perfect realm. Forgive me, I will go cry for a few hours because of your perfect righteousness and then never speculate on PvP on forums again until I am the one that people try to pattern after in the Arena...
