I simply tell them: You either stand close of each others or I lets you die and your pewpew dps will drop to 0.

"Stand close to each other during Phase 3 so I can spam Chain Heal, please" usually works. I've found that the second part explaining
why
you want the mage to get cozy with your tank generally gets people to listen. Otherwise, they just think you're crazy.
If one person stands out of range of CH bounces and dies because they get marked for death, I don't sweat it. People should know by now how his AoE works and that standing a mile away doesn't mean you'll avoid it any better.
Yeah, I just never like letting people die. And if enough DPS do this, then we don't have the dps to down the boss, and 9 times out of 10, it's apparently my fault. /sigh.
Repeat after me, "It is
NEVER
the healer's fault....It is
NEVER
the healer's fault..." This is a mantra i picked up back on guild wars when I used to heal parties. if you've made the attempt to explain it to them and they still don't listen, then they deserve to die. If it starts to become commonplace then it's time to do what others have said and find a guild who can run it effectively.
I'm beginning to find the lack of more than one instant a bit of a hindrance in some fights, say for example that the tank has just had something go slightly wrong and is dipping dangerously low on health and needs a truck load of healing right now......but at the same time you've just been hit with some ability like fire that you have to move out of or you'll die.
If you move the tank dies, if you stay, you die. What are you supposed to do?
Yeah, Ignis can get like that, for example. Really I guess situational awareness is even more important for us, because while a druid or priest have methods of getting through those kinds of situations, it's even more crucial for us to avoid them entirely.
I'd like for us to have something like that or maybe some form of protection more than ancestral healing. Pushing health bars up is ok, but if we could prot and heal... now that would be sweet!

When it comes to healing P3 of Black Knight in ToC hc on my shaman I usually go with:
"Get to melee range or die"
It works most of the time and when it doesn't I CBA to explain it any simpler...

QFT.
I'm in the 'do as I ask or get dead' camp, I have to say.
When they
do
die, following up with "Oh well, nobody important died", or "It's just more mana-efficient to res you" is always funny :)
Today in hc ToC I had a (pug) warlock standing in the desecrate on phase 2. Every time. Out of CH range. And life tapping. Down to 2k health. Yeeeah...he didn't get no healz... Didn't get a res either :)
