I daresay this sounds better than what is likely to come.
Y'know, the whole Garrosh Warchief kills Cairne thing.

You should add that to the OP, although I don't find it a legit justification for the night elves' retreat or even the loss of their druidic power. As far as I know they aren't outnumbered by the Orcs, but clearly outnumber what remains of the Warsong clan. Which seems to be the only one fighting up there, acoording to the OP.
Also, Warsong Shamans didn't lose their powers from destroying the forests, did they? But the Night Elves have apparently had to retreat anyway, unless there's still just as many elves in the forests as they get leveled (as we've seen).

Well, think of it this way, if the Warsong strip-cut the Forest, I can see the Spirit's of both Earth and the Wild being really cheesed off with them doing that much useless endless destruction. More then likely Garrosh's Horde will lose their shamanism and plunge his idiotic group into more Warlock's and Mages.

The Dream is looking like it's going to be the combining patch between Cataclsym and Maelstorm more and more, espically after what I've read in the preview chapter for Stormrage.
It could be an Old God, Alterac is close to Trisfal Glades after all.

You know this whole thing sets up a debate for thinking about tauren druids too.
Although not as major a part in there life as it is in night elves, tauren druids play an important role in there culture of the tauren, also with the tauren of the cenarion circle, they hold as much of a connection to the state of things when it comes to balance and nature.
Now, the deviding differences in sub factions within the horde has always been of conflict, one side of the horde having a spirtial following, like shamans and druids, another side being of warfair, much like the warsong clan, and the third side being the likes of the RAS and warlocks in the horde.
With Thrall as leader, despite the presence of the warsong clan in a small part of ashenvale, they didn't have the power to push there logging and deforesting further into ashenvale for this reason... But with them now having a leader, and the possible chance of him taking power over the rest of the horde, that balance ha shifted from the spirital side of the horde respecting the natural order, to it now being about invading lands, taking all it can, and being just like the horde that came through the dark portal.
So Cairne, being a tauren who respect the balance of nature, perhaps wanting to find a resolution with the night elves in hopes of resolving it, he is branded a traitor by Garrosh and killed. If this is what is going to happen in the lore, it will push the devide in the horde without question.
The horde Thrall made, with there regained spiritality, or the blood crazed horde that lead its people to ruin, as lead my Garrosh. If the horde were to adopt that ideology again like it had in the old days, it would destroy itself.
And any way, do you honestly think theres a chance the tauren would stand with that horde when they discover Garrosh having murdered there noble and good leader?

That's the weird part of it, besides Thrall becoming a Guardian and leaving Garrosh in command.
Saurfang had a heart attack or what?Saurfang attacked his own heart,
as it was a weakness.

Shamans also use the Fire Element. A notorious culprit in forest destruction.
Yes, but it is a required burn, to clear the old growth and let the new grow. The Warsong are just destroying the forest in revenge for Cenarius killing their clan members. The Spirit's won't support a Horde that is out of the tune with Nature itself..... you know, like the War with the Draenei when they Horde went warlock.
