I see a lot of these threads going around and am myself a new 80 on my first toon for a couple of weeks. Any advice would be appreciated.
Here's my armory link:

Thanks in advance.

well, what do you want to hear? since you're new to 80 you've got a mix of poor blues gear and good drops from the new heroic.
keep running heroics until you've got everything you can from conquest badges.
get enchanted.
since the last patch you can gear yourself well enough for running the top tier of raid content without every stepping foot in an actual raid if you wanted to but i would suggest you do as many raids (naxx, OS, VoA, EoE, ulduar) as you possibly can.
practice makes perfect.

Thanks for the input. That pretty sums up all I was looking for. Finally time to start raiding.
One more thing I'm wondering about though is my hit, is it too high?

your hit rating is good. see
irharry's stats sticky
for specifics.
the problem of getting your foot in the door with raids is always a tricky one, especially as we get further into each expansion. however, it's not hard to get the gear to do over 2.5k dps (you don't even need full epic, never mind 219-226 gear you can get from just heroics) and 2.5k is easily enough to do well in naxx. just keep your eyes peeled for pugs and once you get a couple of raid achievements it shouldn't be hard to move up the ladder.

Sounds encouraging.
Thanks asakawa.

hehe, that's one way around it but instead of macros i suggest looking for the addon "underachiever". it does the same thing.
(do bear in mind though that if you use something like that then people will expect you to now what you're doing. you'll want to make sure you've seen videos on each boss before going in or you'll get found out very quickly - i recommend the tankspot videos, they're very good)
