Hi all
Just after a some opinions regarding tailoring.
I started this profession and got up to around level 250 with it up until then it was going ok, but now i seem to be spending a lot of money to skill up creating bolts of cloth and other stuff. I'm not really getting much back
Now, I’m a casual player so not looking to do tailoring as a massive profit making skill so only took it thinking i can make some decent gear for myself.
But can you obtain equivalent/better gear just from simple quest rewards in outlands and northrend.

Sorry yeah, should have said i am a mage so a dps caster.
My problem with the profession was i was only doing it to get the gear but i seem to be spending a lot of gold just trying to level up the skill. Do you know if you can get gear with more or less the same stats in outland/northrend. Or is tailor made items a whole lot better than anything you can find and is worth all the money you spend levelling it up?
Cheers

Tailoring (and any profession) items are suppose to be starters for someone who just dinged 80. Back when WotLK just launch, it was cream of the crop. You can even argue that rep items from Wyrmrest, Argent Crusade, Ebon Blade, etc are not even worth it since they are ilvl 200 and takes some heroic runs to get exalted with all of them for one or two ilvl 200 piece from each faction. But hey, you gotta start somewhere. You can make the same arguement about all the raid tiers - like once T9 hits T8.5/8.0 is out of date. Why not just wait for T10 and go for that? But in reality, you should be PROGRESSING. Yes leveling profession is expensive, but while leveling up and doing quests, you should have acquired enough gold.
Blizz kinda ruin (or accelerated) progression by epic welfare with reg TOC. You can essentially skip everything and do reg TOC then h TOC and be decked out in multiple ilvl 200/219 pieces in one day. But they "kinda" made up by giving Triump and Conquest badges by doing daily heroics and etc.
In addition, if you raid, you have a chance to get high level recipe drops. There are still a few gimmicky things that each profession can do. Like BSmith can socket their own bracer, LW can emboss their items for cheaper or less mats then the kit, etc etc.
