To be honest, I wasn't aware of what it all meant when it was first suggested that Thrall would become a member of the council of tirisfal. But after reading it, it does end up making a lot of sense.
http://www.wowwiki.com/New_Council_of_Tirisfal
The council of Tirisfal, formed again by Aegwynn, was formed during the recent events in the warcraft comics. The intention was, along with Jaina, Meryl Winterstorm, Vindicator Maraad and even Rehgar Earthfury (the orc shaman that had been Varian Wrynns holder as a gladiator until he had him let free), it was formed with the threat of Cho'gall, and the later resurrection of C'Thun his master, with the presence of the twilight hammer in azeroth.
Aegwynn's intent was to gather some of the most powerful mortal being on azeroth to the council, including Khadgar, Broll Bearmantle, and Thrall.
It seems now, in the cataclysm, the council has called these members to its add to fight the threat destroying the world, and Thrall is one of them.
It seems the reason for it forming was based after Med'an was rescue from Cho'gall and the twilight hammer, and if Aegwynn feels it necessary to form the council, it could only mean the guardians of Tirisfal (Thrall included) are there to both protect and train Med'an for what he has need to do.
So it does seem a case of Thrall being a member of the council of Tirisfal, the same as Jaina, but with good reason. Despite the threat of horde and alliance fighting each other, Thrall has had no choice but to answer this call, which in the grand scheme of things, is more important to the survival of azeroth then the warring of horde v alliance.

yeah like i said its a new Council of Tirisfal
Thrall could be made the Guardian of Tirisfal because Me´dan is not ready yet to hold that position, but when time comes, Med´an will be made the new Guardian
I actully think the reason for it IS because he is ready, that the cataclysm and all thats happening means unless the guardians can train him in the use of his powers, then azeroth doesn't stand a chance. Thrall is one of the many guardians present in the council.

Uh, Jaina suggested Thrall not Aegwynn, and he said no because there is a war on in Northrend, so he suggested Earthfury instead. Hey Taurenmoo I don't mind you using info, but make sure to get all the facts; they have said nothing about a New Guardian yet, in fact the last page of issue 22 "Whispers" has Medivh showing up to tell his son to go to Karazhan. Maarad and as yet named Shaman is going to help him control his other powers.

Rehgar Earthfury is the shaman who is part of the council, but the events on theramore isle had it that Aegwynn wanted to bring all those others into the council, with the intent to train Med'an in the use of his powers.
Now the cataclysm is happening, and the suggested story is that Thrall leaves the horde for what he needs to assist with, leaving Garrosh to take control. There are 2 possibilities, either Thrall has gone to join Malfurion on Hyjal to deal with Ragnaros, or he has gone to join the council to help train Med'an.

I'm guessing it's to help Malfurion as the Comics are about 4 months behind the actual Warcraft timeline. Again, Thrall said No to joining the council at this point in time, it's possible at a later date he will join up as a trainer for Med'an but as the comics stand now, he won't be showing up again.
Also for the other post, sorry about the temper.

Fine. But I'm still stuck on the idea that the reason for him leaving the horde during the events of the cataclysm is because he decides to take the offer and joins the council to train Med'an. Since the comics took place during the time of wotlk and malygos's war, Thrall wouldn't have joined them then, but those events will have passed when the cataclysm comes.

i think that thrall will become the new guardian. mainly because one it was basically told that he was and two they arent fighting the burning legion but the elements themselves and who better to fight the elements then the greatest shaman alive? maybe after the elements are calmed will he hand over the mantle to med'an but still stay on the council.

Except Med'an recently did something I don't think Thrall could have; combined Arcane and Shaman magic and jsut wtfpwnd a Forgotten one.

true but that dosent mean thrall knows certain things med'an dose not ( or that blizzard will make him know)/ nor dose it mean that med'an knows how to deal with something of this size having the power means nothing if you dont know how to use it the proper way.
