To me it just sounds like:
" Oh Aion is coming. let's completely renew the game, make all the QQ'ers happy that they can't get the right gear / play their favo race / class combo etc etc "
Yes. Blizzard, a very popular company that has garnered countless awards and has OVER 11.5 MILLION players on ONE GAME ALONE, not including the Starcraft and Diablo universes, is worried about a cheesy little Asian game taking over.
11.5 million subscribers =/= 11.5 million players.
My point still stands, they have a kajabuttload of people paying them money that are devoted to their games.

I only have one question about the expansion, maybe someone can answer it for me...
Tauren paladins?
I might be missing something, but I dont see how that makes sense.
Two tauren NPCs have an interesting conversation on Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff. You can go and see for yourself but here's the dialogue if you can't get in the game right now.
"Aponi Brightmane says: I see that thoughtful frown, Tahu.
Tahu Sagewind says: Sorry, sister. It's nothing to worry about.
Aponi Brightmane says: But something is on your mind, right?
Tahu Sagewind says: I'm thinking about the front to the north. The one you're so eager to return to.
Aponi Brightmane says: What about it?
Tahu Sagewind says: I know I'm counseling patience, Aponi, but I don't like remaining here any more than you do. Times are bleak, and failing to act only makes me worry that my idle hand may have been the one to turn the tide.
Aponi Brightmane says: Talk to me, Tahu. Something. Anything! I'm going stir-crazy.
Tahu Sagewind laughs softly.
Tahu Sagewind says: All right, Aponi. I've enough on my mind to share. Have you ever spoken to the elves of Moonglade?
Aponi Brightmane says: Not much.
Tahu Sagewind says: The elves speak of a moon goddess, did you know? They put great stock in the light given by the moon.
Aponi Brightmane says: Like Mu'sha.
Tahu Sagewind says: Just like her. The parallels I've heard are interesting. And it's no secret all druids, Shu'halo and elf alike, can call upon Mu'sha's light.
Aponi Brightmane says: Where are you going with this?
Tahu Sagewind says: I wonder. Hamuul has guided us well, and I've learned so much from him. The legends say that our people were druids when time began...
Aponi Brightmane says: I hear the "but" in your voice...
Tahu Sagewind says: ...
but what Hamuul teaches is what the elves know. The night elves. They put such stock in their moon goddess, as creatures of the night.
Aponi Brightmane says: Do you think his teachings are wrong?
Tahu Sagewind says: No! No, nothing like that. He is an elder for good reason, sister.
Mu'sha is one of the Earthmother's eyes
, and she watches over us. That isn't sinister.
Tahu Sagewind says:
But we're nothing if not people who strive for balance. Our warriors fight only when there is need. Our hunters take only what the tribes require to live, and use all they can when they do. The shaman stand as guide and mediator to the elemental spirits.
Tahu Sagewind says:
And while we, as druids, are guardians of nature, I wonder if we've overlooked a key aspect of balance in all things.
Aponi Brightmane says: So are you going to bring this up to the elder?
Tahu Sagewind says: No, no. No need for him to trouble about a student's idle philosophizing while he entertains a friend.
Aponi Brightmane says: I suppose so. It's not silly, though, what you said.
Tahu Sagewind says: Well, it isn't exactly a new thought, sister."
I bolded the parts that hint at a expanding to the Light.

From the little I've seen it sure looks like the Night Elves have taken a pretty hard hit from the cataclysm. Maybe some of them are starting to think they need all the help they can get right now and worry about the bad sides of arcane magic after they survive this. There's also nothing that says arcane magic is outright endorsed by Night Elf leadership. Could be some radical group. Right now we just don't know enough.

They have not destoryed the Lore, this is the next stage of the Lore.
Well put. Everyone crying about how the lore is screwed is because they are still stuck in time of when the events of WC3 ended and want to keep that lore frozen in the game. Even in real life, many events good and bad in our world continue to occure even if we don't like them happening.

This is true, and I've never really thought about it before but it makes sense. A new World Tree growing atop Mount Hyjal. Darkshore is being flooded by high tides and waves. What of Teldrassil? Did it get flooded out or destroyed too, much like Orgrimmar? Will the Night Elves reclaim Hyjal and found a new capital there?
Ooo, so many interesting things are happening and there are no definite answers. I'm enjoying it so far. =)

I'm saying all the Lore goes against some points in Cataclysm, so far Blizzard haven't explained
why
the Night Elves would change, so have they thrown the lore they built up out the window, or just not released it yet.
Who has changed -- NIght Elves, or
some
NIght Elves? This is a mistake that is so prevalent in these threads: treating races or factions as an undifferentiated mass where everyone thinks alike and acts alike.
Some Night Elves still remember the anti-arcane lessons of the Sundering and Queen Azshara -- they only lost their immortality a few years ago, after all. But
some
Night Elves still consider themselves the Highborne and think Arcane is still nifty and potentially useful in the upcoming war.
This is one of the key parts of the World of the World of Warcraft that makes it a deeper and richer story than most people give it credit for: Metzen and crew really try to capture the tensions within societies, factions and groups, and allow those tensions to be part of the story we're playing out.
There is a real disagreement within Night Elf society
about the place for Arcane magic, and now we get to see and play through that. There is a real disagreement within Orc society about peace or war with the Alliance -- and now we get to take part in the aftermath of that debate. This isn't "death to the lore" -- this is letting the lore be more complex and realistic than we normally expect from a video game.

I'm wondering why they had to raise the level cap? All this time farming epic 80's, 80 raids, 80 heroics and now they're just going to bump up the cap 5 levels- 5 more for Goblins and Worgen to get from 1 and completely eliminates current NR content. Who is looking forward to 5 more talent points and reworking their trees (again) just because of another expansion? Just a little QQ for UU.
I would have been happy if they kept the cap at 80. Anyway, it looks cool enough and it will indeed spread players around all of Azeroth which is a good thing. I just hope that their little cataclysm has been limited to the east coast of Kalimdor and west coast of Eastern Kingdoms as I would hate for my retirement home in Ferals to get destroyed. At least we can fly around and survey the damage.

I belive for first time that blizzard isn't screwing lore. They added the things right , as they should. Now for the shaman dwarfs that's an other story, but i still don't think it destroys lore, more like evolves it, and i am a lore fanatic.
The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that blizzard will allow worgens to become druids , but not paladins..
This is something like Worgen + Druid = ?
I mean worgens already transfom from human to half "wolf" half human, worgen druids will gain +1 form from other ones ^^
