I can help out on a lot of levels, but the whole "run me through x instance" thing is so reserved for friends and guildies alts.

There's a difference between noobs and newbs though.
Newbs are the ones that will politely ask, are reasonable, and are a pleasure to help (and I usually do, too.)
Noobs are the ones that are loud, annoying, and obnoxious - usually the ones who will loudly and constantly ask for gold or free runs - the ones that you want to choke, or bludgeon with something big and heavy. Often they will also say things along the lines of "On my main I help people that ask but you don't so you're a jackass" or "I sometimes randomly give 100g to random lowbies on my main so why don't you give me gold now" (yes, that last one truly did happen the other day.) Those sorts of people seriously get my back up and just get me arguing - and will usually end up on my ignore list when I get bored of arguing. Those are also the ones that DESERVE the belittling, just so that they might learn that being polite gets you a lot further ;)

I mostly just ignore them if they're annoying 1337-speakers. If they ask a polite question, however, I try to answer.
Oh, and your mom plays WoW? Any way she could adopt me..?

I try to help any one who really needs my help, because I would appreciate the same in return.
The problem with this is that it doesn't normally happen....
I'll help a noob but as long as I am in the area. If a guild member needs my help I will schedule the run but more then likely it will probably not be right away unless again if I am in the area.

So now, every couple of weeks I grab a few 14-16 slots bags off the AH, ride down to Razor Hill (or as far as VoT) and hand them to a low level character. (usually Hunter) I usually inspect them first to avoid twinks who don't really need them.
The responses are absolutely great, it feels good, and only takes a few minutes to do.
That's really awesome. Good on you.
