Well, It's good enough to be a valid way of leveling my priest alt. I was tired of using him in pve so being able to level with pvp seemed great to me.
I managed to level him once in 3 days of pvp (he's level 67 btw), and that equaled out to about 1000 honorable kills. Although I'm not sure that honorable kills even have anything to do with the amount of xp you get. From what I've seen, about 90% of BG xp comes from things like getting/returning the flag in WSG, taking/defending the stuff in AB, and doing pretty much anything in AV (taking stuff, killing elite NPCs, etc).
It's not as fast as questing, thats to be sure. And your not gonna be getting sweet quest loot, so watch your gear.
oh and in terms of what's best for leveling?
AV - (around 2-4 bars)
WSG - (< a bar)*
AB - (< a bar)*
*you can probably get ALOT more than this if your the kind of person who is willing to actually go for the flag and not be on def in WSG and try to take back resources in AB

I have been having fun leveling alts in battlegrounds now. The heirloom gear that they all possess ensures that they have an advantage most of the time. Battlegrounds are significantly slower then questing for experience though, especially if you are on the low end level of that bracket.
I generally quest until about the 8's or 9's of the respective bracket (19, 29, etc) then take a break to enjoy some battlegrounds and pick up some of the BG gear. I think battleground exp is pretty sweet, but it is defintely not the means by which to powerlevel your character.
