Libraries are too much effort and the books are usually old and yellow and earmarked and ugh.

Im about 150 pages into ADWD and I gotta say Danny is kinda turning into a perv lol. I mean she and Drogo were a couple nothing wrong there, but then she had that thing with Jorah, then shes banging one of her handmaids, now she keeps dreaming about this Daario guy. Plus we find out Viserys wanted to %^&* her too? I would like to see this woman have one close relationship with somebody that dosnt turn sexual...

She's not banging Irri, and I think that Irri fingers Daenerys because she still sees herself as a thrall needing to pleasure her, when Dany's made it clear that she doesn't want her to do anything that the other party might feel uncomfortable with. Besides, most girls have a bi streak. >.> Nothing really happened between her and Mormont, she spurned pretty much all of his advances. Viserys' intentions were always quite clear; after all the Targaryans had been marrying brother to sister for over 300 years and he never showed any signs of wishing to buck the trend. He was
probably
hoping that Drogo would be killed off in the invasion of Westeros, tbh.
In regards to Daario, I agree it's a little strange. Dany is very much an object of sexual lust in the series, but she's so much more than that at the same time. Her main arc in this book so far (over 500 pages into
ADWD
myself) seems to be her trying to deal with her enemies inside and outside the walls of Meereen, and beginning to truly feel the chains of command of her Queenship.

Didnt she take Irri to bed with her again at some point twords the end of ASOS?
Im just sayin it seems like all her relationships turn sexual, which dissapoints me a bit since this is one of those fantasy series where the female characters actualy have some depth to them and are not just sex objects, and Danny has always been one of my favorite characters. Although latley it seems like shes getting this sense of entitlement Im not all that fond of, I get why since she
is
a queen now, but Im not in love with it. Gonna just keep reading and see how it all progresses.

Dany still has that depth, however, it's just that there are all sorts of male suitors vying for her affection; not simply because they care for her or want to stick their winky in her kitchen sinky - but because of the power it will give them. It's always been about Dany balancing her objectification due to her bloodline and maintaining her own sovereignty.

I know she has depth, but I feel like her character is being over sexualized. Martin has her waking up in the night masterbaiting, wearing dresses that have one of her t!ts hanging out, and either having or being the object of a pseudo sexual infatuation with everybody that she comes close to.
I first posted this after I read a scene where she says she's jealous of the naked lady figurines on Daarios weapons because he was rubbing them with his thumb, that for me was just too much.

Yeah, the Daario ship is a little weird, I must confess. >.>

The dragons are half a world away, I don't think his powers are
that
potent. >.>

You know, it would be interesting if Bran led the last of the Children of the Forest back into the world.

@Patty
Well once they arrive in Westeros, which should be in the mid 2030s by the time that book comes out...
@Funden
Considering Martins nihilistic way of writing I don't think that's ever gonna happen. Two books ago I might have, but not now. Hell at this point I half expect the wall to come down and the others to win.

Kind of some interesting stuff here about the possibilities of Aegons true parentage.

Soooooo, during my absence (explained sort of in the Bin if anyone cares) I read a bit.
I finished
ADWD
, the fifth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, and, my my. Dany had better kick ass. Best Queen. I know that a hell of a lot of deaths are coming in the next installment, which has me really anxious. I know that some of the deaths are likely to be characters I really like, but I still don't want it to happen. Which is stupid, I know. MUCH better than
AFFC
, miles better. One of my favourites, if not my favourite, in the series so far.
I also read
Divergent
, a debut novel by Veronica Roth for those who don't know. It's a YA dystopian type of novel, similar in parts to
Harry Potter
(I know that HP isn't that genre) and
the Hunger Games
. It was, well, alright. I read it in one night, it was one of those books where you're like "But I don't wanna go to bed yet! D:" and the main premise focuses on our heroine, Beatrice, choosing which of five factions to join (as society is divided into these five factions by virtue: Erudite = knowledge, Abnegation = selflessness, Candor = honesty, Dauntless = bravery and Amity = peace). The difference is that Tris doesn't just fit into one of these factions, she's Divergent and therefore has different options, her test results being "inconclusive".
Well, that's a little summary of the start because I figure it's a fairly new book and it's probably not as established as, say, ASOIAF. My judgements on it. Well, it was encouraging to see new writers being signed on to book deals. The writing is about as strong as you'd expect it to be from a fresh Lit graduate catering to the YA audience. The plot was rather good, although the ending was imo, quite rushed. The romance isn't to my taste, but overall it was a pretty decent book.
I also read the bulk of the
Dresden Files
series. I'm on
White Night
now. :P Again, the love angle grates me in this series. It seems like almost every female character wants Harry. Sure, not all of them are genuine, but still. It was quite jarring. The books have a good pacing, decent writing, but (this is me being really awkward) it seems like the magic angle is kind of overexplained in parts. >.> Murphy is awesome.

Very much so. And pretty much all of the women are evil so....

Ugh. I'm reading
Clockwork Prince
by Cassandra Clare, and it's pretty bad. The main character is one of the biggest Sues I've seen for awhile.
