Reading is bad.. mkay
In the old days, you actually had to read your quest text.
Now you have pretty little pointers on your map in a million places.
i.e., don't make me hurt you.
I like instant quest text, yet I read quests while I autorun on my flying mount.
Do I win? =P

Not 'true books', but anything by
Hiro Mashima
is quite excellent. I love his art style.
I cannot object to this in any way or form, Hiro Mashima is pretty damn awesome.

I just want to send a shout out to John Van De Ruit for his series
Spud
series. These tales of a South African schoolboy during the apartheid and it's ending are the funniest thing made since Catch-22, probably funnier. I look forward to the movie. By the way, The Guv is awesome.

I started a Warhammer 40k series... The Grey Knights.
These are some of the most depressing books I have ever read yet I can't effing stop!

Depressing Stories FTW. Orwell is my hero.

George Orwell?
And when you have a future as grim as WH 40k, +daemons and daemon hunters... you can't go wrong.

Yeah... I haven't read the books, but my friend tried to get me to play once, and I have a small Tau army. I also read some lore from the codex's. I'm surprised at my choice... They seem a lot like Draenei. If I really got into it I'd pick something darker. Dark Eldar maybe?

I picked up something called
Gardens of the Moon
by Steve Erikson today. Never heard of it, just walked into the store, picked it up, saw it looked interesting and bought it. Anyone here read it?

Ooh, I have heard of that book before. I didn't look into it before, because I thought it may bore me too much. But, I'll give it a shot.

I've never been someone to read books, unless you count manga and comics. With that being said, is there any fantasy-style books that anyone can recommend to a first-time reader?
The WoW books are pretty good, as are the Dragonlance/Forgotten Realms.
Edit:
Here is
a
Grey Knight
(The daemon hunters mentioned above.) For those of you who were wondering.

1984 is by far, the most frightening book I ever read.
