I don't get it. Is prosthesis man advantaged OVER other people? Should we all cut off our legs and
insert springboards
? I have to admit, if I saw this guy running me down, I'd be pretty scarred.

It's an interesting story that isn't it. I'm not particularly interested in the gossip-y side of the specific article you linked (though I guess you're not either) but it's interesting that this runner will be competing with others in the regular Olympic events.
Seems to me that it's like a game-balance issue in video games. People go to great lengths to ensure that nobody has an advantage over others (use of drugs etc.) so I just don't understand how they could balance this one. Since everyone clearly isn't on an even footing (intended, sorry) how do you ensure that the right person wins?
But then, as I ask myself these questions I wonder how the paralympics is balanced when, as far as I know (which isn't far, I'm woefully ignorant on this whole topic) people with varying disabilities compete together. Perhaps the powers that be have all this totally dealt with already, I dunno.

I want to be Iron Man. When can I be Iron Man? I've already got the snarky attitude. I just need a genius level understanding of physics and mechanical engineering, and several billion dollars.

It's potentially advantageous. The general ruling is that he has springs - imagine if Olympic runners were allowed to design custom shoes with springs built in to harness more kinetic energy.

This
reminds me of people who go offensive against those who are critical of World of Warcraft. What is it with people and defending products that aren't theirs? I don't feel an affinity for anything so vehemently that I feel the need to go offensive, beside human life itself.

Because people have opinions about the things they like and don't react kindly to those who say anything negative about it. Also, lol for Rush being so out of it it's not even funny.
Nolan also weighed in on conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh's contention that the villain in the movie, Bane, was an attempt to make a disparaging link to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's former company Bain Capital.
"I'm not sure how to address something that bizarre, to be honest. I really don't have an answer for it, it's a very peculiar comment to make," he saidSince you know, Bane is from Central America heh.

I'm pretty sure that isn't directed at the movie's usage of Bane, but of the democrat strategist's linking of Bane from Batman to Romney. Taken out of context it looks like Rush is linking the two, but he isn't. I linked an article about this earlier:
Apparently,
Obama is Batman
and Romney is Bane. So, was Rush right?

Agreed that is a very well written article. I hope the statue stays so as the author says the issue can be discussed and not swept under the rug.

It's pretty frequent that corporations get their marketing campaigns ripped to shreds these days.

Yeah...that can happen anywhere.
It's far more likely to occur at crowded events though.
Not the most empathetic response I've seen to mass murder, either.

It's more the idea that the world we live in is dangerous, as seen by drive by's where people go down a street and spray locations; while it sucks that those people were killed, %^&* happens in the screwed up world we're in. You can google a list of mass killings in crowded locations and find multiple hits all over the place.
But saying that a particular spot is 'the most dangerous' is a stretch.

I'm not worried at all about going tonight. Nnnnnnope. Not that I think it's actually likely that anything would happen where I live.
There was something I saw about one of the victims. She was a survivor in last year's Toronto shootings. I had a link to her blog post about it but I lost it.
The Paris premiere has apparently been cancelled as a mark of respect by WB.

NYC beefs up security at theatre and Paris cancels Batman.
I wonder how what's his face who directs these feels about this.
