I read it. Don't remember where. Don't plan on looking it back up. I'll simply withdraw comment. Either way, Bush Clinton and Obama all opposed it, as did '97 senate, for well stated reasons.

First off I don't believe having an even number of representatives from either sex would mean much,
I think, if nothing else, it limits the systemic bias that occurs when having a representative that is blatantly unrepresentative of the demographics of the population. I think the second chamber should be formed based on demographic or occupational representation, possibly on a rota like jury service. In my opinion, people at the same job or with the characteristics are more likely to share viewpoints than someone from the same state.

What a flimsy jerk. You don't have to agree with everything someone believes in order to enjoy their life work. She may be wrong on EVERYTHING else, but she had a terrific understanding of economics and a great skill at communicating that understanding. You think he would know about her more if he was that knowledgeable about her.
It seems he knew that he didn't have to agree with everything about her in order to agree with her books, but in the end flopped.
What about the M. Sanger / Racism link? Bring up that and watch liberals do the same backpedaling on planned parenthood. Stick to your guns, or what good are you?

I'd feel pretty suspicious of a politician that said Marie Stopes or Margaret Sanger brought them into politics, attended annual Marie Stopes/Margaret Sanger dinners and yet was blissfully unaware of those women's views on eugenics and race.

If somebody asks you which thinkers got you into politics, your answer isn't a lifelong definition of everything your opinions are and will ever be, it's a reflection on how you feel on that day at that moment.
Yeah, especially if you're attending a rally in their honour and you force your interns to read their tracts. I thought it'd interest MyTie since he said he'd never vote for anyone that approved of abortion, but he'd totally fine with reading tomes by proponents of eugenics, for which the profit goes to the Ayn Rand foundation, which advocates the concept of eugenics. I don't blame Republicans though, they're forced to be walking contradictions. They must profess faith in the Gospels while simultaneously praising supply-side policies, when Jesus' fiscal advice was pretty unambiguous (for that matter, there's guilt by association for associating with dangerous radicals advocating social justice). Propound Social Darwinism but reject macroevolution.

Oh, Ayn Rand Institute.
They
support atheism and abortion, but they don't actually fund abortions.

Yucky. Her books are still support wonderful economic models. Guess I won't be voting for Rand for anything soon.

Most users are American, so those seem to be the articles that get linked the most.

A CNN article on the
nuclear risks to the world
. It also directed me to
this
, which is also pretty interesting. The CNN article does seem a bit naive. Like the other life lessons, humanity probably has to learn this the hard way.

I would NOT call Democrats vs. Republicans dictators vs. freedom fighters- lol. Not even close.
And I wouldn't equate fundamental Christians in the US to fundamental Islamists in the rest of the world either.

You missed the word 'weird', didn't you? It is not 100% comparison, more like how Lego Spaceships compare to real ones.
Or how spaghetti compares to Alfred Hitchcock, in that it doesn't at all.?
