Quests. Even grey ones.
I was able to hit 999/1000 exalted with all capitals except Gnomeregan with quests that I didn't do while leveling. Gnomeregan was at 80% so I finished it off with runecloth.

I have said it before, ill say it again...
Run AV. Search dead bodies. load up on all the crap. at 1/2 through the battel, get to the starting area and turn in
scrap iron
,
crystals
, and
supplies
.
Trust me. you will earn a Ton of rep.

I have a hard time believing that turning in quests that grant 1 reputation per 20 items while getting your butt kicked in by the Horde because nobody defends as usual is more efficient than questing or turning in cloth. Hadn't been for me at least - I tried it.

worked like a charm for me.
I wouldnt recomend it otherwise.
and it's not just 1 or 2...
But, hey, I'm not here to try and make you use good advice, im just here to offer it.
and sorry you get kicked by the Horde. On my sever we win 90% of all AV's

Nah, it's not that we don't win. It's that our Alliance leaves - strictly - no - defense, so if I follow your advice and stock up on player drops for reputation turn-ins, when I get back to our base, it's swarmed with Horde and all the NPCs are dead, I get repeatedly killed while the Alliance manages to win the BG, deleting the player drops in my bags.

Yes you can. My hunter is currently champion with all factions except Sen'Jin, and keeps doing their valiant dailies for the extra gold. He has about 150 valiant seals in his bags by now. ;)
*edit* Just to add, these argent valiant dailies award 250 rep for the relevant faction as someone stated above, but not many know that it also gives the 25% trickle-down rep for the other home factions as well.

Well - cant argue there.... We mostly win cause we kill the NPCs. never seen any "really good" defence.
But the work around I found is... I rush off with the group, go to the furst turtle spot and collect from all the bodies I can for as long as I can. If i die, and we still have a close GY, then i keep doing that for a few minutes. Then I use my Rep Trinket to hearth me to the start area. Turn in, and by that Time, yeah - they are starting to show up.
Then I just kill on the bridge into town or on the road.
Its really not bad, and if your only doing it for rep, you can always just leave once the NPC's are dead.
Additionally, you can gather the supplies from the mines, and that one is pretty good. I found it a cool way to get better at PvP, Gain Honor and marks, Gain rep, Do some of the quests that are in the BG for More rep, and have some fun.
I recomend the starting zone options as well, but I would rather run AV a bunch than farm Scholo or strath for cloth. OP stated hw would need a Ton of cloth...
either way, though. good luck.

Rep Steps:
Newbie quests
Quests that aren't newbie quests that give that rep
Argent Tournament
Argent Tournament Rep Writs
Runecloth
Alterac Valley
Does anyone know if you can you keep doing the valiant quests for a particular city until you turn in the 25 Valiant's Seals?

Just to clarify.
If you are a Valiant for Stormwind, for example, and turn in the 25 seals for Valiant's Charge, and battle the Argent Champion, win, and turn in the quest, you cannot get the valiant quests for that city anymore.
