Eh... I am probably guilty here, as I just camped a Retribution paladin at around this level on my hunter... =\
From my experience (and I really hope, for your sake, that I am wrong), Paladins don't really stand a chance against hunters at this level. I was literally able to unload enough damage, without blowing cooldowns or trinkets, that I killed the paladin in 4-5 Shots.
But to help you there, the two times the Retribution paladin was actually able to kill me (vs the ~10 times I killed him...), it was because he was able to get in melee range of me and smack me with a
. It was devastating. As long as I could stay away from the paladin, he was dead meat. But with HoJ he was able to get in melee range every now and then, and I had no way of getting away - which is why I died.
My advice? Repentance to give yourself some time to catch him, run to him, Hammer of Justice, unload all you've got. With a lucky crit or two, he'll be dead by the time HoJ is over.

If your not judging
http://ptr.wowhead.com/?spell=53407
then your wrong. Especially against kiters. Keep Sacred shield up and remember that everything "tends to level out" between classes @ 80. Use repent after the huntard Disengages ;) most hunters won't Disengage AND Deterrence right after. And don't expect to beat any type of ranged that can kite without some type of PvP talents like Divine Purpose. you can't be good at everything at the same time.

Best thing to do vs a good hunter is to kill his pet... You will still die, but you leave him a bit less happy about it :)
He might even become distracted enough, worrying about his pet, that you might be able to sneak into melee range.

Spec prot, take your time killing the pet, then walk towards the hunter laughing as his shots deal .05% of your 30K life in damage.

Didnt you hear AK ret pallies have a hidden talent that the overworld doesnt know of, instant mind ray of infinite death. Deals 10k damage every second over 40 yards now you've got to keep it on the downlow.....
youll have to use console command
"/activate pally_talent a d a d w s w s ctrl alt a b b a "
It wont show up in your talent tree once active and you'll never see it tick, but i swear it works just target enemies and watch them fall over.
I think you mean:
w > w > s > s > a > d > a > d > 1 > 2 > ctrl > enter
But it doesn't do all the stuff you said. It just makes it so you never run out of lives and your mana recharges super fast.
All ret paladins use it :P
