Ding is a common exclamation used by players to announce to their friends and guild members when they reach a new level. Because of this, ding has taken on several auxiliary meanings, such as the act of leveling up, the graphic associated with leveling up, etc. Originally, the sound effect when a character leveled in Everquest was a ding.

Plox came from please. It goes like this...
Please was shortened to plz because phonetically the z sounded better during the shortening I guess.
and then in the quick pace of first person shooters (where MOST of the short 'leetspeak' came from), there were rampant typos. and since X is next to Z on a standard qwerty keyboard, and the O is by the P AND the L. It came to be known as plox. dumb? yes.... but that's why it is. Same with PWND. which came from Owned in a similar fashion. *shrug*
on a side note: I knew MOST of these things, but it's really interesting where proc and qq originally came from..

I always wondered why "plox" or "pl0x" is used instead of "please" or even "pls" or "plz"
It don't even sounds like "please" and, imho, it's one of the most retarded thing you can read.
"plox" and "pl0x" started as a typo, usually seen as "buffs plox!" and it just stuck... sort of like "pwn".
It's a devolution of standardized typos.
'Please' is shortened to 'pls'. Which through accident or intention is turned into 'plz' and later to 'plx' (less common originally due to the fact that, at this point, it ceases to make any sense outside pure typo).
I can't really say for sure, but I really doubt 'plox' was a typo. Maybe if you were typing with mittens on it might be, or had Homer Simpson fingers... It's likely one of those dumb phonetic derivative things like "LOL" becoming "LAWL".
People really shouldn't use abbreviation in spoken language.

Here's one of those that I just never learned:
What in the hell does iirc mean? Or irc? I can't pick that one up from the content.
How accurate are the test dummies?
One thing to keep in mind is that test dummies are stationary targets that don't move and do not strike back. You are never in any danger from a test dummy. So, a test dummy is a pretty accurate way to gauge your damage in that scenario.
Honestly, I'm pretty sure test dummies were put in more for working on rotations and that sort of thing than what they seem to be used for now: People talking about how much DPS they can pump out.

I've always wondered why people say 'DING' when they leveled.. Our leveling sound is more like 'swoosh', right?
I've always wondered why people say 'DING' when they leveled period. Achievements show when any real progress is made, I hate seeing people say 'DING' when they hit level 13. GRATS BRO THAT MUST HAVE TAKEN YOU LIKE 20 MINS WOWOW!

QQ could also be a Warcraft III reference, it's been awhile since i played DOTA or wc3 in general, but if I remember correctly, to quit a game quickly, you hit "alt+q" twice. Maybe that's where QQ came from? lol, just a thought. By the way, urbandictionary.com can answer a lot of these questions :)
I've never seen solid proof that people have been using it that long. As far as I know people have only been complaining about QQing since around BC's release or after. I definitely can't recall cropping up any time during my playing vanilla WoW or WCIII.
The responses to threads like "Rouges are overpowered" were mostly "
Cry more
", "Rogues*", and "rogues are overpowdered".
I don't remember the first time I saw someone tell someone else to "QQ more" or "stop QQing", but I'm fairly certain we didn't get that stupid until the advent of arena. (Not that we weren't stupid to begin with, but we are certainly getting stupid
er.
