The playstyle for a feral druid pre-40 is very similar. Post-40, you have
iLoTP
, which provides passive self-healing.
I can't really provide you with information about the enhancement shaman, because I levelled my shaman as ele.

An enhancement shaman is in not at all similar to a retadin.
A druid is the most versatile class in the game, hands down. If you dual spec, you can effectively tank, heal, and dps in Northrend. Even as feral, you should be able to heal any Azeroth instances. Obviously tank and dps too.
Enhancement shamans are funfunfun. Once you get WF weapon at level 30, you charge in, start beating on the mob, and when WF procs (and especially when it crits)...their health just...goes away.
My enhancement shaman is 46 and my feral druid is 64.
Shamans now get
water shield
at level 20 (I linked the rank I have on my shaman), which effectively eliminates your mana issues, and I just got
improved stormstrike
, so I have zero mana troubles any more. And I will get
shamanistic rage
at 50, which will make it even easier.
Feral specced druids in kitty form kill stuff
fast
. When I first got cat form at 20, I was used to slowly wearing mobs down in bear form. When the first mob I fought in cat form dropped after a 5-7 second fight, I was really excited. Essentially,
cat form
druids are rogues,
bear form
druids are warriors...and if you were to go balance...
moonkin form
...well, let's just say that they get called doomkin for a reason. At level 40 you get
dire bear form
, which is when druids really have the ability to be great tanks.
I should note that enhancement shamans also kill stuff very quickly, and having a spell interrupt as a regular part of your damage rotation is helpful. Enhancement shamans can also use a shield and be a relatively effective offtank in Azeroth instances. I wouldn't know how this works in Outland, but with the abundance of death knights, it really shouldn't be necessary. I have tanked SM before on my shaman, but you will definitely want to wait until level 40 when you have mail, or you will get owned.
Honestly, I wouldn't be able to pick one over the other. I have a hunter, druid, death knight, shaman, rogue, and warrior, and I like all three of them because they all have different, fun playstyles.
Make them both, play them both, and pick one.

I've only played to both to about level 16 ATM so I'm not an expert on them, but IMO Shaman are harder to get used to. They seem to be a complicated class, and you get a lot of totems by level 16, and it can be a tad overwhelming if you're like me. I haven't played my druid in a while, but I miss it. I really liked blasting away at enemies, then switching to bear from to THROW DOWN. Both are fun and very unique in the way the work.

If you have only gotten to 16, you haven't even completely learned the basics of the class at that point. This is not a flame, I'm just trying to make a point...
You haven't gotten cat form, dire bear form, travel form, hibernate, feral charge...and you've only gotten aquatic form if you completed the quest (unless they changed that, I did the pain-in-the-a$$ quest back in vanilla WoW). And you're a grand total of
7
points into the wildly varied talent trees.
As a shaman (I'm assuming enhancement spec), you haven't gotten water shield, lesser healing wave, ghost wolf, chain heal, dual wield, stormstrike, lava lash, frost shock, mail armor...etc.
As a shaman, yes, there are a crap-ton of totems, but you use most of the same ones all the time, the others are for specific circumstances. I would say that in my experience, an enhancement shaman can definitely "THROW DOWN" a lot harder than a bear form druid. Cat form druids, on the other hand, drop their targets really fast...like,
really
fast.
Once you get to 50, and get class and spec defining abilities like mangle, shamanistic rage, earth shield, tree form, typhoon, and totem of wrath, you can speak with relative authority about that class.
But at 16? Lolz. There is a difference between something being overwhelming and simply needing some getting used to. The shaman is simply a highly unique class.

I leveled my Shaman as Enchancement until 75, and it was some of the most fun I've had in the game, period. Windfury Weapon crits are some of the most glee-inducing moments. With two slow weapons (once you can Dual Wield) you can kill targets +/- 2 levels of you like butter.
Totems can be overwhelming for a bit, but you will learn which ones are useful in solo play / instances, etc, and it soon just becomes another element of your character. I would stick with your Shaman until level 30 when you get Windfury Weapon and you can start Stormstriking thing's faces off.

I took your not flame, as a flame. And I did say I was no expert, and I was just sharing my experiences.

Well, I meant no offense.
I realize you said you weren't an expert, but don't you think it is a bit useless to share you experiences with specific classes when you've only gotten to 16?
Like I said, that wasn;t meant to be a flame, nor was it meant to be insulting. But my highest mage was 14. I don't give advice on mages. In fact, I don't give anyone advice on how to play their class, unless my class of the kind they're asking about is no more than 2-3 levels over me.
=/
I apologize if you found that insulting. I didn't mean it to be taken that way.
