How not to be hacked:
1. Be smart. Don't click on just anything or run just anything.
2. Get rid of Windows and run Linux.

Linux only appears less vulnerable because far fewer people use it; therefore, less malware is written to target it.

Youd have to be an idiot to get malware on Linux. Windows users just click on anything.

Brute force wouldn't get through...
If you believe this, then you don't understand brute force. Brute forcing a password will generally involve dictionary attacks and some algorithm like this:
a
aa
aaa
aaaa
aaaaa
aaaaaa
aaaaaaa
aaaaaaaa
aaaaaaaaa
b
bb
bbb
bbbb
bbbbb
bbbbbb
...
Eventually a brute force algorithm WILL hit on your password, and that's why it's called brute force. Given enough time and computing power, any password can be cracked.

While this is completely true, don't spread disinformation. Anything applying a brute force algorithm to crack your password will eventually get a hit on your password The amount of processing and time it takes to crack it increases exponentially as the complexity of the password becomes more varied and length become longer.
I'm sure we'd all love to wait until the end of time to crack your long as hell, complex password just so I can get some gold to sell to gold sites and delete your toons out of spite that I wasted my time.

Nothing in the portion you quoted is untrue. I don't understand how you can agree that I provided a completely true statement and then call it "disinformation."

You provided a completely true statement but implied the assumption that a password that might be complex and long enough can be cracked in a reasonable amount of time.

Oh, please don't read it that way. A long, complex password is definitely one of the best locks you can put on your account. If I was able to leverage every computer in the world, I could crack a 3000 character password within a few seconds, but that's a bit on the extreme side. A typical gold seller is not likely to try to brute force a password because a few log-in failures undoubtedly locks an account for a short period of time. Trying trillions of password combinations 5 at a time just isn't very lucrative. On the other hand, "password" is likely the first password anyone trying to gain unauthorized access is going to try. To be safer, use a complex password.
However unlikely, someone could guess "&skl2lkai9@" on the first try. Just don't expect it to happen anytime in the next trillion years.
