priest doesnt drain mana...
that is
Vampiric Embrace
thing... try to apply it to the dummy be4 and check how you do...
I wouldnt use that macro because in fights where there are some AoE dmg it may get you killed, make sure your wife doesnt forget the spells^^
the SW: D in that rotation isn't bad, i'vent played with Shadow for a long time so can't tell if VE health returns can heal you through it but I would use it when I had all spells ticking (SW: P and DP) or in CD (Mind Blast) and when I was reaching full health again and if it was out of CD i would use it again
dont know much about Shadow Rotations because haven't tried since TBC but I think that's the way SP priests do nowadays

Since BC I haven't used my Priest purely because my account has been inactive. But when I was actie I only really used like 3 spells,
Vampiric Touch
,
Shadow Word:Pain
and
Mind Flay
. I don't know what it's like now but I guess it's still the same. I tended not to use any other spells as they would chomp at my mana but since I ain't been on since BC, I wouldn't know. I think it would be wise to look at other specs that other players have and keep into consideration what is best of your/wife's playing style. I would also try to save as much mana as possible for the longer boss fights.
Hope this helps.

Um. If you use just those, you're in trouble.
Start the fight with a mind blast, then two mind flays THEN use SW:P, vampiric touch, mind blast again, devouring plague, vampiric embrace, SW:D, mind flay until mind blast/SW:D are off cooldown. Use Vampiric touch as needed.
Obviously use mind sear on big trash pulls, and toss around SW:P when it's just a few guys. That rotation is just for bosses.

When talking about dps, bosses are all that anyone really cares about. On trash/soloing, everything is so dependant on gear and user preference, that it really doesn't matter.
As far as bosses go, you should only be using SW:D rarely. The funny thing w/ the spell is, your "dps meter" will go up slightly, but your "total damage" will go down b/c of the GCD. This assuming, you are taking up 1/2 of your total MF dmg.
Times to use SW:D
You have less than 2 seconds until you need to reapply a dot or MB CD is up (otherwise use MF)
You are moving
It won't kill you
I'm not sure why people are saying to use it in your opening rotation (unless you have to run into position for a boss fight). To the best of my knowledge, the highest dps opening, is VT > DP > MB > MF2 > SW:P, but you vary that slightly, generally by taking either MB or DP out and using a full 3 ticks to MF. If that's the case, you would then obviously cast the spell asap after the initial rotation.
Personally, I usually open w/ VT > MB > MF3 > SW:P > DP > VE...(altered slightly if I'm running into position w/ the priority of SW:D > VE).
Keep in mind that your instant spells still have a 1.5s CD less haste (down to a min of 1s), so when considering how "long" they take to cast, you give it 1.5s (less haste).
