Horde seem to work better together as a team for some reason. This could have something to do with age, could be a bit of maturity, or it could just be sheer coincedence.
Back before cross server BGs, I played on two different servers. On Magtheridon, the Horde are ruthless monsters and they would steamroll the opposition, even if it was a PUG. The complete opposite was true on Gorgonnash; the Horde were weaker in PvP but more PvE progressed. They would come at me 2 v 1 or even 3 v 1 in some cases and get rolled because I came from a server where PvP was much tougher and there were better players.
So it's not necessarily the faction, more than just the particular players that happen to join up in the particular battleground at that time.
That being said, damn right I have a female night elf. I'd much rather look at that than stare at another male character's ass on the way to 70 again. 70 human mage and 70 NE rogue, both male, and I have a 37 female NE warrior and 36 male NE druid to go with em.

Most of these replies lead to the same thing. I would quote some of you guys but many of you are talking about mainly the same points.
Age: Age doesn't matter, I really don't understand why people think age matters in maturity. Of course, a 20 year old would be more mature than a 9 year old but I'm talking about when playing World of Warcraft. All it requires is logic and understanding, you have to be logical to know what you should do therefore being mature and you should be understanding of your situation, abilites etc. It's not that Alliance players usually have younger players, I really disagree with that. I've been playing on Horde for most of my time playing WoW finding almost everyone 15+ and when I recently joined Alliance on a server, I found most people 20+. The exact opposite of what many of you were saying. In my opinion you can't generalize and say, "It's because all of those Alliance are little kids wanting to kill Horde". Yeah sure, there are lots of kids out there wanting to be all Noble in their playing fantasies but aren't there kids playing on Horde too? Many kids and teenagers prefer to be cool and play on Horde because of for example an Undead's dance and mohawk. What about Orcs, big green monsters that look strong, why wouldn't a child want to play with a race like that? Also about the maturity, I know many people in guilds and groups I've been in that are above the 20 age bracket and act childishly just for fun and wanting to act differently from how they are like in the real world. That's my opinion about ages and maturity in WoW considering their faction.
Team-work: Team-work really comes randomly and depends on the server you're in. I've been in many servers and one thing I've noticed is that 40% of the time Horde always wins. 40% of the time Alliance always wins. 20% of the time they're evenly matched, each battleground having a random winner. Also I usually see more Alliance pre-mades than Horde which means that they also consider team work. In my opinion, playing Horde or Alliance doesn't matter. It's just a game, players that usually win on Horde might join Alliance and still win, players are the difference, not the characters you play with and their factions.
By the way, another way I could say this is,
"Horde always wins because it's a fact. It's been stated by Gnomish scientists all over the world that Alliance can't possibly win. It's one of the laws of life. It's the way Blizzard created the game. Horde can't ever possibly loose in battlegrounds."

No side is better than the other.
It all depends on your server and which side the more experienced people congregate on.

For those who disagree that horde dominates in the battlegrounds, over the past 8 months, I have had OQueue, which displays BG stats for the realm. I am online an average of 3-6 hours a day and I have
never
seen alliance in the lead... not one single time. Typically, horde are ahead by a hundred or two, but I've actually seen them ahead by as much as a thousand on occasions.
As to why, I have some theories, though I'm fairly certain it has nothing to do with age or maturity. Most of my friends play alliance and they're all over 30, with families and decent paying jobs. While I play both factions, I prefer alliance; I'm 40, with a wife and 16 year old daughter, a college degree and a job that pays me $42k a year. I am also GM of Knights of Pandaria, a level 25 (Alliance) guild in Andorhal with over 800 members. Many of those members are over 30 years of age, and as far as I know, there are only a small handful of them under 18.
Before I played a horde character for the first time, I would have sworn that horde have advantages over alliance, but I no longer believe this. The race doesn't typically affect how strong or weak a toon is; my horde monk is no more buffed than my ally monk, aside from the gear I have on... As for class, a monk is a monk, with the same monk skills, regardless which faction one plays.
Essentially, I think there are two primary reasons why horde dominate not just in battlegrounds, but in WOW in general:
Statistically, there are many more horde playing than alliance. This means that overall, horde have more players who are experienced in the game and more of a likelihood that good players will be teamed together in a BG. It also means, there's probably more players willing to help the newbie learn to play the game strategically.
The horde image is that of brute warrior, destroying everything in its path. It only stands to reason this would appeal to players who are into PvP. It also explains why horde are so apt to get in groups and attack alliance cities (while alliance do this from time to time, this is mainly a horde pastime..
Whatever the case, saying "horde are more mature", or "horde are just better" is moronic. Horde and alliance are made up of vastly different people of all backgrounds, nationalities, religions and races. Some are intelligent and strategic, while others are idiots; some are considerate, while others are complete jerks.
