I'm just fed up with the un-deserving hype about it, people are saying ''Ah wow this game is gonna be epic!'' and I dont have a clue why.
I'll objectively tell you, for me, it's because I love the universe and story so much, and because BioWare has proven their ability (to me) to convey that story in a satisfying way with the KotoR series. If it were a literal clone of WoW in every way possible, I would be stoked. I hope it's better, but in reality, I'm just excited they're making it at all, and I would be even if all I knew were the the game was called "Star Wars: The Old Republic."

Bioware is the best RPG-centric companies. They have some of the most epic wrpgs ever made: Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KotOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age. I see this as a huge opportunity to bring the
rpg
back to mmorpg.
The amount time and money being spent in the project is a very good sign. WoW has had 5 years to develop, which is part of the reason very few new mmo's can compete. With enough production time, and a huge budget, SWTOR might actually have a chance.
It's about time a sci-fi mmo came out. It's a refreshing break away from the typical fighter-cleric-wizard set up.
Lightsabers.

Lightsabers.
Which is kind of why I can't wait for the WH40K mmo.

I'm torn, really. I'd rather focus on one MMO instead of paying for more than one at a time, but right now:
A) I really feel driven to go back to WoW,
B) This is around the corner, I loved KOTOR, I love Bioware, and I used to be a Star Wars fanatic, and
C) Warhammer 40k Online is also on the way (albeit, probably a longer time off than Old Republic) and unlike Star Wars, I'm
currently
a 40k fanatic.
Basically, I have some decisions to make.
Whether or not it's good as an MMO is actually irrelevant to whether I'm going to get it. Even if the online aspect flops, I still think it'll be worth playing strictly from a single-player perspective.
