Hard to farm drop for 29 twinks, but hopefully well worth it. The big thing is though, use it in the off-hand with an Agility enchant on it. The +5-7 Fire Damage is not included in abilities such as Ambush and that fire damage is already calculated into the DPS. Other than that, quite a good weapon.

Well, as a twink you maybe shouldn't use two of this. Because of the stats. Sure its quick and got a high amount of max dmg but you can get the dagger from WSG with 7 agility and 3 stamina to keep the stats up.

Does the 5-7 Fire Damage add to the max damage? Does it count as 56 max damage, when you use Ambush and Backstab? Should I prefer Claw of the Shadowmancer or this one for a dagger specced rogue?

Rogues: when you're farming for the poker, be sure to check out the graveyard for rare spawns. Because some very nice rogue stuff drops off them:

I myself am a 32 rogue and I have been farming this guy for three days with my friend, a 34 feral druid. Coming from one rogue to another, you can probably solo this guy, but I haven't tried yet as I have a druid in my guild that is happy to help me try, perhaps futily, get this dagger. Basically in the room with the boss there are a bunch of other guys, all far enough away to not aggro, but there is a guy right by Vishas that you will have to deal with during the boss fight. If you were to solo him, I would try the following:

1) Kill the first two guys in the main hall once you enter the instance.
2) Wait for the pat in Vishas' room to come around to the doorway leading in to Vishas' room, and Dynamite pull him, shoot him with an arrow, etc., pull him out of the room, and dispose of him. You might not see him at first when you enter the room - part of his path takes him to the exit of that room for a few seconds. Just be patient and wait, you're going to have to kill him.
3) Kill the two guards immediately to your left when you enter Vishas' room. I would recommend sapping one and pulling the other guy out, killing him in the hall, and then either running out of the instance, re-enter, and restealth, or vanish, or try to take the guy immediately after the first. These are lvl 30 elites so it won't be easy to do the latter.
4) Now that the area around the doorway is clear, sap Vishas (hopefully you have impr. sap) and pull the guy right by him out into the same hallway you were killing all the other dudes in. Kill him as fast as possible, run out of the instance, return, and then you're clear to kill Vishas. You can kill him where he stands, just pull him to the wall a little and be sure to use crippling poison, because he will try to run at 10% health, and he sometimes runs for seemingly no reason at all.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to pack a health potion or two - you shouldn't need it for the elites but Vishas will hit you with SW:P and Immolate, which does the majority of his damage. That stuff hits pretty hard and it will prevent you from vanishing to get an extra ambush or cheap shot or whatever. I generally start out with garrote, get to four combo points and rupture, and then just go to town. Don't bother using mind-numbing poison because his dmg spells are insta cast.

All that said, I've killed him 10 times now and I haven't seen anything drop but a green cloth item and the Bloody Brass Knuckles. From reading the above posts I'm honestly starting to wonder if Blizzard removed this item from GY altogether. I'm sure with my luck it will drop after I've picked up something better. But I really would like to gouge some Alliance with a red hot iron poker.

Anyway, I hope this helped.

My son ran the instance on this guy seven times and it dropped twice... on the sixth and seventh runs! I kid you not.

I'm into at least forty runs now (five at a time)and nothing... nada for old dad.

(I swear that kid has a pact with a devil somewhere... well now that I think of it... maybe his mom. That would explain a lot. Including why MY luck stinks. lol) <sigh>

I had 2 by my sixth or so run. I rushed the person who'd rushed me's alt but it didn't drop, about 10 times then he got fed up. Got fiery on both and did PvP for a bit while i had them, they're not bad to be honest.

Took about 30 runs before the dagger dropped. Other 29 times bloody brass knuckles dropped, with the occasional crap green item.

I tried soloing Vishas many times as a 29 Rogue (wanted the dagger for PvP). But it was really freaking tough, even for a fairly twinked-out rogue. I died a lot, but did end up killing him a few times, but only when I was all buffed out with shadow protection, fire protection, agil, defense, fortitude, stamina, troll's blood and healing pots. Had to pop dodge and my talisman of arithor (damage absorb) as well. But it wasn't worth it, because on those few occasions, nothing good dropped.

He's easy to solo as a 33+ rogue though. Just have to sap and pull carefully. Now as a 36 rogue, I can do the whole room including the four dudes by the chest pretty easily.

Just passing along my experience. Hope it helps.

I got it on my 7th time through it realy isnt that hard to get just kill the guy and run out if u didnt get it and reset. You are limited to 5 times a hour which sux, but its still really cool if you get it awesome for my rogue twink

I did about 75 runs total, and got both of mine. What i did was this, this is my exact macro spam "/2 Paying for SM Vishas runs ( He is the first mob in GY ), Each run takes about 45 seconds, I'll pay 2g, for 5 runs. And if a Torturing Poker drops I'll pay an additional 3g. "

And i got the WPL flightpath (Im ally) once you hit the Bulwark, you die and get put to SM. simple as that, then just give it time, wait back and let runner kill, if it drops, you can roll, but expect alot of lame ass claws

Claw of the Shadowmancer would be a better investment than this dagger. The +Fire damage is factored into the DPS, but when you crit, that fire damage doesn't. You're effectively critting with a 17.6 DPS dagger.

Claw of the Shadowmancer has higher bottom-end AND top-end damage, and it's 35dmg shadowbolt proc isn't factored into its DPS. Even if it only procs once out of 100 hits, you're still getting 21.5dps which is higher than Tortured Poker, AND your crits do more damage as well.

Need a second dagger?
Toxic Revenger has the same damage/speed as the Shadowmancer and is just as easy to farm as the Poker (but with a higher drop rate). Have your 60 drop down to kill Viscous Fallout and stand at the top with group loot on. You'll be in range to roll, and you'll only have to kill a few troggs. And if you don't like AoE DoTs for pvp (no clue why you wouldn't, CC is for non-twink groups), I'd still take the slower Dreamslayer over this dagger.

Me and my buddy went in. We alternated our mains with our alts to get them for our rogues. Took about 25 trys with my 28 rogue and his 45 druid. took 5 trys with my 45 shaman and his 29 rogue.

I just helped a mate lvl 31 Rogue with getting this and It dropped in the first run.

so 7 runs into it the poker drops, and even though i'm in xp receiving range i go to loot the guy and i can't loot because i was 10 friggin feet away..

this game is completely ridiculous, save yourself the time and go play something else

I have a 54 warlock and i had my level 60 friends run my 31 rogue threw SM GY because thats where it drops and ive never seen it drop i ran about 23 times in the last day

For all of us 29 twink rogues, the drop rate increases when a rogue takes you through. I did 10 runs with a mage, no drop. 2 runs with a rogue stealthing to him and killing him, 1 drop for me other for him ( DE ). Plus when the exp gained drops when killing one guy, not 15 or so. =D
