The quest reward gives you a stack of Preserved Holly (5 charges). Using one charge will turn your mount into a reindeer, so use it wisely. I dont' think this quest is repeatable when all 5 charges are gone... But then again, the Holly doesn't seem to be soulbound. I can see Holly selling for lots of gold sometime in July next year, lol.

Then again you can't blame the spam asking "OMG where'd you get that mount?" because with all the stupid people going AFK in front of the quest giver, it's hard to see him.

Комментарий от Thottbot

its somewhere near 66,35 in Searing Gorge

Комментарий от Thottbot

Apparently you gotta wait a few seconds after he respawns, people were camping it on my server and nobody could get the mount.

Комментарий от Thottbot

Rescued the reindeer at 71,48 in Tanaris and got the 1650 xp and a gift which was 10 light leather. Whatever...ho ho ho

Комментарий от Thottbot

Found him...he's not in a cave he's inside the pirate complex under an awning

Комментарий от Thottbot

Tanaris 73,47. Hes outside standing in a shed attached to the house which has a boat on its left. Respawn time about 1 minute...

Комментарий от Thottbot

...YOu don't have to use the pouch of reindeer dust...he asks for it. Also, after this he appears to unsummon. Good luck, he has quite a bit of guards!

Комментарий от Thottbot

Coords above were correct for Searing gorge. (66,35)

The camp he's trapped in is surrounded by dark iron dwarves, per above. there were 4 melee guards and 1 caster.

During the fight you're likely to pull an additional 2 wandering melee types. Solo as a 42 hunter? Hah! Damn lucky, unless you're pulling a couple, FDing, wash, rinse, repeat...mobs are 44-46ish.

Rogues should find this relatively easy to stealth in, give the dust and vanish.

FYI, did go to Tanaris and did NOT see him in the camp of pirates. I suspect this spawn pops between the listed locations.

I found him in the camp in Tanaris. He was surrounded by Southsea Kidnappers. It looked like a stable. But he was there!

Комментарий от Thottbot

You don't need to kill the gaurds, just target the reindeer and right click the pouch he will unsummon w/out waisting time with the guards.

Комментарий от Thottbot

Searing Gorge 66,35 still correct 15 december 2006.

Комментарий от Thottbot

What people will do to get a reindeer. LoL Gotta love the holidays

Комментарий от Thottbot

I still see people don't read as they should to. The dear is traped cause they took its magic alway or something... so you have to give that magic back to him. And in Tanaris he is in a stable and in the only one opened its the dear.

Комментарий от Thottbot

the reindeer in Searing Gorge is bugged, i feed him the dust then he disappers and my quest wont complete, any suggesttions?

Комментарий от Thottbot

The area around the reindeer has about 7 guards, and there are constructs and spiders as well. Expect to do more than a simple 4 or 5 mob pull. My thanks to the Horde Undead Mage who handled agro'd the guards, while I (Ally Human Mage) handled the pats and bolted anything that got too close to my Horde friend. The reindeer re-spawns very quickly, within 60sec, and the guards do not, so work together to strip the guards and be patient and wait for respawns, as there is no reason to PvP for dibs on this npc. Later dayz...

@lvl 43 I did this as a rogue engineer (lvl 315).

I use the Gnomish Battle Chicken and Mithril Mechanical Dragon to distract the guards.

All but one was pulled to my pets. I gouge'd him then moved in to Metzen. I completed the quest but by this time the pets were dead.

I was hit with 2 nets but used Vanish to escape unharmed.

Комментарий от Thottbot

I Ran up to the reindeer, but died cause I got like 7 guards. I ran back and rezzed behind the beast, called pet, drank a potion, clicked the deer, confirmed the quest, and then died again. But I got the quest!

The deer is guarded by many many pirates in Tanaris and I would not recommend completeing it this way

Комментарий от Thottbot

The reindeer meat was a little gamey, but paired well with a nice Chianti. I also thought that the dwarves were a little gristly, but nothing that A1 sauce could not solve.

Ho Ho Ho!

Комментарий от Thottbot

foudn him in tanaris at said location... really easy at lvl 60, just walked right up to him without aggroign....

come from behind him and you won't aggro mobs... at all..

fun quest. <3 my reindeer ^^

Комментарий от Allakhazam

Acording to the papers from the dwarves and the pirates, I'm guessing it's in Tanaris and NOT in the Searing Gorge.

Anyone who did this one?

Ok it was a walk in the park for me being the 60 hunter I am, with my massive gorilla pet. But if i had to make a suggestion of waht lvl to be so you dont get owned... I'd say 50+ the dark iron mobs are ganged together in the Searing Gorge, 3-5 mobs within 15 feet of eachother. I did not do the tanaris run, but based on the range of mob's in there you might be okay as 48+.

The reward is some preserved holly which will let you transform your mount into a towering reindeer. Looks cool and you get 4950xp for doing it.

Soloed with my 42 hunter in searing gorge, sent in my pet after 1 of the guys and he took all aggro and i threw on aspect of the pack, ran in and was just enough time to talk to metzen and free him, of course my pet and i both died in the process but i got the quest done.

Can someone please put a screenshot of Metzen?

Комментарий от Allakhazam

is metzen tameable? it would be an awsome pet

Комментарий от Tikitak

In Tanaris, 73 47. It is easier to visit from the south entrance, or else you'll have to go through a lot of pirates.

I soloed as a 45 mage. Bring some CC and then talk to the reindeer then you are done. You don't really have to kill anything, just need the hostiles neutralized somehow.
