At first glance there's a lot to dive into. This first section is here if you don't want to read the whole document.Level with your armor crafter and the gatherer that feeds it then swap one slot to Engineering or Alchemy when you hit endgame. Every source I checked lands on that core, and the only thing they differ on is which endgame swap fits each spec.Alternatively, level or run an alt to a capital city and feed it mats from your main for engineering.Pick by what you want out of the character:

Self-sufficient leveling: armor crafter + its gatherer. Forever's crafted leveling gear is much stronger than it was in Vanilla, so this pays off from the first zone.

Endgame performance: Engineering for melee, hunters and PvP, and Alchemy for healers and mana-hungry casters.

Gold first: two gatherers, because Forever launches on fresh realms with an empty auction house.

Camp utility: check the camp object table below, because every profession now brings a group buff or station to a campsite.

Take Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid on every character no matter what. Cooked food now gives a 5% kill XP bonus while Well Fed, and First Aid crafts the Stamina buff for camps. Fishing provides reagents for cooking and you can learn Fish Bowl for camp sites. Fish Bowl gives 8% to all stats similar to Blessing of Kings’ 10% buff. How professions work in ForeverForever keeps the Vanilla frame of two primary professions, all three secondaries and a 300 skill cap, and adds a lot on top. They haven't added any new professions in Forever. Mage Research shows up in the profession window but it is a Mage-only system.

What changed from Classic Era:

Starting zones are much more profession-friendly. Junior trainers sit in every starting zone. Early quests hand out gathering manuals that teach Mining, Herbalism or Skinning with a small skill boost. Each profession has an intro quest that teaches its first camp objects well.

Professions have their own window, like modern WoW, instead of living in the spellbook.

Way more recipes. Blizzard announced 600+ new recipes, and beta datamining puts the real number closer to 860–970, with Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, and Tailoring getting the biggest share.

Blueprints drop from dungeon bosses and unlock the higher camp objects, so getting them is group content.

Waylaid Supplies return from Season of Discovery, and turning in crates earns Merchant's Favor (an interim currency token) for recipes and other rewards.

Profession titles: reaching 300 in a crafting profession unlocks an account-wide title through a certification item.

Legacy Professions tree: account-wide points, spent per character, with perks like Working Overtime (faster skill-ups) and Bountiful Harvest (more scarce materials from gathering).

Druids can gather herbs in Travel Form, and they can stealth past mobs to reach nodes.

Druids can now use potions while shapeshifted, so a Feral Druid finally gets full value out of Alchemy.

Cloth: Mage, Priest and WarlockMagePriestWarlockGold and gathering

Mining + Herbalism: the two biggest buyer pools, since ore feeds Blacksmiths and Engineers and herbs feed every Alchemist.

Mining + Skinning: best for melee classes that kill beasts all day anyway.

Herbalism + Skinning: gather while questing without detouring to ore veins.

Enchanting: makes its own mats from the greens you loot and sells enchants as a service.

Hey Drakanthos, your guide is now live. I noticed you have quite a few pending, so I'm going to go through them now & link them for you. You should be able to still update your guides once live but if you do run into any issues post in the Wowhead-Feedback-Support Channel on the Discord server, and someone will be along to help.

It is frustrating that Engineering is still put to the forefront at endgame for most classes. I am sure Blizzard could make other professions more viable for endgame. It sucks that you use one pair of professions to level and then have to switch to engineering and mining and repeat the whole leveling process all over again. It takes time and gold to level and you then have to repeat it all over again. Maybe allowing at least one gathering profession and two crafting professions may help, such as mining + blacksmithing + engineering. Or having two gathering professions and one main to make the transition easier if you have to switch to another profession at endgame. Another idea, is once you max out a profession, you can then select a new profession without losing the first one.
