Level 30 Arcane Mage Guide: Talents, Rotation and Gearing - Forever

By Foolipe Updated: 2026/10/06

Overview of Level 30 Arcane Mages in Forever

During Questing, that was partially because I had high spell power gear and used Weapon Oils and Elixirs, which reduced and always did quests slightly below my level, allowing me to kill mobs with few casts.

During dungeons, though, it was partially due to Arcane Concentration being currently bugged, proc'ing per target hit, instead of per cast - meaning that on AoE it was very easy to cast Arcane Explosion without any mana issues due to constant free-cost AoE spells (if the tank pulled enough mobs). This won't be the case for everyone, though; if your tank is pulling fewer mobs per pull, and/or Clearcasting gets fixed, it'll change very quickly for the worse.

What Changes for Arcane Mage from Level 20 to Level 30 in Foreverup to onwards

Missile Barrage being one of the two main new rotational buttons for Arcane (the other one being Arcane Blast) - it turns your regular Arcane Missiles into a free cast that casts twice as fast.
It feels very satisfying to press, but sadly it's very inconsistent if you only cast 1-2 Arcane Blasts. And given that the reward for stacking up to 4 stacks is extremely bad (only 10% damage per stack), you're often just dropping Arcane Blast stacks at 1 with Fire Blast, to then fish for the proc again at minimum mana cost.

is a pure passive talent, but it increases your mana regeneration by 50% while casting, allowing you to have much higher uptime in every form of content - once we get Mage Armor in later levels, you'll go up to 100% mana regeneration during casts.

Counterspell at level 24 allows you to kick ranged mobs in dungeons and

Cone of Cold lets you slow enemies in a cone, but it's rarely used as Arcane except for kiting mobs when you pull threat with Arcane Explosion.

Conjure Mana Agate prepares a mana gem ahead of time to then use at a later time when you need said mana; it's nice, but the mana it regenerates isn't tuned at all for the much higher-cost spells that Arcane has.

Ice Armor Replaced Frost Armor, and is essentially the same buff but slightly better.

Hints and Tips for Level 30 Arcane Mage in ForeverWhile leveling:

Make sure to either craft or simply buy wands for your level, as they're very strong early on.
These are useful even at higher levels to finish off targets once they're low HP, so as not to waste mana on a full spell.

Fireballing mobs as the first spell, followed by either Arcane Missiles or Wanding for damage, is very consistent, as it allows you to pull from further away, and Fireball has great base damage.

Try to maximize your Intellect, Spellpower, and Spirit as much as possible (Crafted gear is great for this) as they're very useful in dungeons later on.

From level 20 onwards, using Arcane Missiles after 1 stack of Arcane Blast and doing quests slightly under your level gives you the smoothest leveling experience if you just mean to quest at a steady pace without as much downtime to drink.

While doing Dungeons:

Maximize your uptime by not overusing your mana; use as little mana by never going up to high Arcane Blast stacks, to then use said mana in a following bigger AoE pack with 4-5 mobs instead.

Using your Mana Cooldowns, such as Ley Line or Cannibalize and Evocation frequently is better than not using them at all; even if they feel like low uses, it's better to get 3 low-value uses than none at all throughout the time in between bosses.

Best Level 30 Talent Build for Arcane Mages in Forever

While leveling initially up to level 20, Wand specialization increases the already high base damage of Wands if you obtain them as soon as you can and upgrade your crafted wand consistently.

Once you obtain your Arcane Blast and can use Arcane Missiles with its stacks, you stop wanding as much and can remove those talent points in order to obtain more meaningful points.

If you're consistently always fighting mobs of your level or lower, and never engaging with dungeons or quests of higher level, then taking instead of is a very solid choice.

increases your intellect by 10%, as well as your critical strike damage, allowing you way more leeway to spend mana.
