Barrens chat is famous for being 3 things:
1. constant
2. annoying
3. entertaining

When one ventures into the barrens it is more likely the colorful language, than the colorful enemies that will kill you.

Commentaire de skitzosmeagol

Sides information that probably wont help one(however he is true barrens chat homes alot of immaturity) :) It is good to level in barrens from 10-20 this is easily doable with the abundance of quests in cross roads, and the instance Wailing Caverns for players 16-17 and up. The more south you move in barrens the higher the level of mobs, and the harder the quests.

Commentaire de 8004

this is easily the best place to level in your low levels. barrens questing will give you much quicker xp then just grinding away in silverpine or elsewhere.

Commentaire de 8242

This place is easy to level but it starts to get really anoying!

Commentaire de Orik

The running around is annoying, but the quests are the best. You can go from 12-20 in a hour if you do most of the quests. Wailing Caverns is good for grinding, questing, and farming.

Ever see those people who eat a special fish that makes them pirates? Their called Deviate Delights and can be fished at any oasis (Suggesting near the one in Wailing Caverns). You must get the recipe for them to really work.

Commentaire de 8270

All that is said is true a warning for undead players this is a long trip so make sure you don't have anything pressing going on before you head here to level.

Commentaire de 8271

best place to lvl for horde 10-19

Commentaire de 8385

you left out an excellent source of chuck norris jokes

Commentaire de 8818

If you brave the barrens infamous chat, you can do the following in this excellent zone:

-farm the deviate delight recipe (usually sells for around 9g on my server) and drops off random creatures
-fish for the deviate fish for the above recipe
-lvl quite quickly
-find an abundance of herbalism and mining spots. Not to mention most of the creatures in this zone are skinnable.
-If you are hunter you can find Humar the Pridelord in this zone.
-The barrens has the entrance to three instances: RFK, RFD, and WC.

Commentaire de 2969

The Barrens is probably the best place for a level 12-25 horde to level up in the game. It has lots of easy quests as well as lots of mobs to kill.
Mages lvl 14+ would love this place as there are a lot of grouped mobs here (Leroy -> Frost Nova -> Arcane Explosion).

Highly recommended for leveling up your character.

Commentaire de 9580

10 Great things about the barrens
1. Questing 12-22
2. Skinning for Light Leather (and sometimes in south barrens Medium Leather)
3. Grinding for levels 15-25
4. Questing
5. Entertainment among chat
6. Instances
7. Mining for Copper
(has about the most in the game)(more on coast)
8. Finding new friends your level
9. Get items found no where else
10. Good exp when you discover all places in the barrens (it all adds up)
... and much much more!!!!!
(in my opinion the best place for horde!)

Commentaire de 9545

I like to call this the Hordes version of Westfall. Everyone comes here for the quests and xp.

Commentaire de 24464

Not to mention a lovely place for alliance locks to deal with when its time to get a couple of those summons...

Commentaire de warlock454

Until you are about level 16 or so, be very careful running around south of the Crossroads, even if you are on the road. Sometimes the Kolkar will run across the main road, brutally attacking anything in their path. They are actually running, so they can be on you even though it seemed all clear moments ago.

Commentaire de 69592

The Barrens is the biggest zone in Kalimdor - with it's advantages and disadvantages.

+ loads of quests - with three quest hubs
+ high level range - good from level 10 to level 30
+ access to six zones - Durotar, Ashenvale, Mulgore, Stonetalon, Dustwallow, Thousand Needles
+ three instances - Wailing Caverns, and RFC and RFK, as well as quests for these instances
+ three settlements - however, Ratchet makes it easy for Ally gankers to access the Barrens

- Barrens chat - Metallica sucks!
- Alliance players and a couple wandering Alliance NPCs can kill you
- high population - tauren, troll and orc newbies are usually sent to the Crossroads, may have competition for quests
- some quests are confusing and vague (Lost in Battle, Stolen Silver, Call of Fire)
- huge zone - may have to run LONG distances to turn in quests

I prefer Silverpine, nobody levels there, but it's a cool place, less running to do to hand in quests and Allies don't pay attention to it.

Commentaire de 76357

You are right, but you are talking about non-PvP realms.I am talking about PvP realms.Oh, and here is a little tip for the players in non-PvP realms. If you heal a NPC or a player who is in a fight with a guy of the oposite faction your PvP will open.I tried this once when I was new to the game.

Commentaire de 74539

The Maiden's Fancy, the boat that runs between Ratchet and Booty Bay, takes 4 minutes 45 seconds to make a full round trip. It stops for exactly 1 minute at each port, and from the time it leaves takes about 1 minute 22 seconds to reach the other port.

This means if you just miss the ship as it leaves and want to get on, you'll have to wait 3 minutes 45 seconds to get on (and another minute for it to get going). If you run up to the dock and you don't see the ship, you'll have to wait an average of 1 minute 30 seconds.

I believe but have not confirmed that the other ships us the same schedule.

Commentaire de 64465

there are also plenty of deviate fish schools in the 3 oasis'

cooking and then eating them can turn you into a pirate or ninja

Commentaire de 56990

The barrens are a pretty decent place but i would only really go there if i wanted to farm for deviate fish or copper plus thats the only place you can get deviate fish. You can find them in wailing caverns or any of the 3 oasises but i reccomend the forgotten pools.

Commentaire de TheOnyx

If you're ever looking for someone to talk to, go to the Crossroads. You won't be lonely. I heard that you'll meet some harmonious undead rogues there.

Commentaire de 85305

Reminiscent of the savannahs of Africa, the Barrens is a beautiful zone, and has a massive abundance of quests to match the zone's massive size. There are 3 towns located here; the Horde settlements of Camp Taurajo and the Crossroads, and the goblin port of Ratchet.

Camp Taurajo is the farthest south. Exiting the lowlands of Mulgore, it's right at the top of the hill.

The lands south of Taurajo have much stronger enemies, and it's recommended that you don't go there until you are at least level 20. Two instances, Razorfen Kraul (lv 28-33) and Razorfen Downs (lv 37-43),strongholds of the quilboar, are in the far south, near the border with Thousand Needles.

Going north from Taurajo is a long road, with the Crossroads at the end of it. Crossroads is frequented by many Horde players, as it's the central hub of the zone. The bulk of Barrens quests can be picked up here. It's also a common raid target for Alliance players.

Southwest of the Crossroads, you'll find the Wailing Caverns, (lv 18-24) one of the lowest level instances. Deviate Fish can also be farmed here.

East of the Crossroads is the port town of Ratchet. You'll find a bank here, as well as a ship that arrives regularly to transport players to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. Be careful of the opposing faction near Ratchet, (Horde, don't flag yourself) and more importantly if you take the ship to Stranglethorn.

Commentaire de 104949

barrens has many quests and 3 towns, crossroads (51,28), camp taurajo(45,60), and Ratchet(62,36). If you keep going down in middle path then you will find crossroads and camp taurjo. Ratchet is located down a path east of crossroads.

There are 3 instances here, Wailing Caverns (46,36) southwest of crossroads
https://www.wowhead.com/forever/quest=2604
Razorfen Kraul about (42,87) at the southernmost tip of the barrens alittle north of The Great Lift
https://www.wowhead.com/forever/quest=2604
Razorfen Downs about (45,88) also at the southernmost tip of the barrens across from Razorfen Kraul
https://www.wowhead.com/forever/zone=722

and yes you will find all you need to know about chuck norris here

Commentaire de 35262

Ok so I read all this and not one mention of the Named mobs.

The Barrens contains 8-9 named mobs (1/2 are tameable). If you spend time roaming the barrens you will find these mobs, each drops a quest item to be turned in at Camp T, decent xp + the xp for killing the mob and TB Rep. A true Hunter's paradise.

Commentaire de Queggy

The Shrine of the Fallen Warrior, a memorial to Michel Koiter can be found northwest of the crossroads at 47,29.

Commentaire de ferdinand

The barrens is definatly one of the most boring places in the game. That concludes my speech.

Commentaire de 159815

I am lvl 61 and constanly fly between org and tb. It is SO annoying going through Barrens listening to all the crap about Chuck Norris and other stuff it is in my most hated zones.

Commentaire de 173946

Remember that in Ratchet, you can not bid on or buy out your own auctions on the neutral AH. So, no trading something from an alliance to horde character on the same account.

I found this out the hard way. :(

Commentaire de 191299

I've recently looked entirely through http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/ for whether or not you could 'tame' those large crabs that are infesting the waters South of Ratchet ... theres a ship that is anchored near where all the pirates are; in the water near that ship are the crags in question.

Commentaire de 108849

I avoided the barrens by leveling in the blood elf area :O

Commentaire de 153268

Anybody know what Fray island (68,48) is there for?

Commentaire de 97999

Can someone please explain to me the fascination that alliance have with the Crossroads? Theres nothing there, killing guards gives no honour and the only horde there are levels 10-25. Do they get their jollies from killing things which can't fight back and by harassing people in game?

Commentaire de 172462

The Barrens was most likely named after the horrible place in Stephen King's Derry, Maine. That's my theory.

Commentaire de 260112

This zone is my favorite, I like the mobs here, the chat here, the amount of people here, and mosst of all the savannah environment. I just like to run around this place with my mount. Alot of rare mobs at the barrens too, get some nice gear for your twink here by farming www.wowhead.com/forever/npc=3295 or running WC. This place is also overfilled with quests, and they do give out some nice rewards. I leveled up in this place much faster and much funner than any other zone. I highly recommend this place for levels 9-23, and for levels 18-20, run WC! It'll introduce you to the strictness of dungeons, and teaches classes about their main role.

Just, go to the barrens. sorry for the crappy grammer.

Commentaire de 212223

Barrens Chat is a level 100 double elite mob. It has an attack called Mind Esplode which instantly kills you, and destroys all your gear. If you manage to kill it, you get all the best gear for your class and spec, as well as instantly hitting the level cap. even when it is raised.
The only thing equal in might is Saurfang. Even he avoids the Barrens.

Commentaire de 242632

I usually level from 10-20 in the Ghostlands (you get good gear for a beginner) and then move on to the barrens from level 20-24, then head on to 1000 needles.

Commentaire de 105897

Well warlock (even as an ally) have a class quest here at around lvl. 20.

And when a player is a low level s/he needs to walk to get Flight Paths. That is how I got to Ratchet and 1000 Needles at around lvl 20. At least as druid I prowled all the time. It was extremely slow but I have done it.

With addition of Achivements with WotLK some Allies will probably try to fully explore a zone.

As I am pretty unfamiliar with The Barrens (never played a Horde toon) and in-game map has rather stupid "fog of war" I am pretty much lost where to look for Boulder Lode Mine, Far Watch Post and Raptor Grounds?

Well I got all of them.

The Shrine of the Fallen Warrior is a memorial for one of the people on the development team who died during the development of the game. If you look further into the shrine of the fallen warrior, you will find a dead orc lying on a stone slab with the intials M.K, the initials of that developer.

I was on the boat from Booty Bay - Ratchet. When near Ratchet, I saw this island that was swimmiable to.
It has these buildings on it.

So I jumped off the boat and went there.
When I got there, the island was mainly deserted, except for this 1 area.

All of these stationary NPC's. Humans, Dwarfs, Night Elves, and Orcs. All with the name "Affray Spectator". All friendly NPC's.

They are gathered around this hole in the island, with a grate over it. And at the bottom of the hole has some water in it. And I can see a single enemy threw the grate. This "Muck Frenzy".

What's with this? Why are they here? And why are they all standing around this hole in the island?

I waited for 10 minutes for them to DO something, but they are just continent to stand around forever.

Getting to Barrens from Theramore or Ashenvale (Alliance) is impossible without an escort--Level 45+ reccommended if coming from Ashenvale because of Horde Guards. If you're a Warlock you HAVE to come The Barrens to get a Voidwalker. If getting an Escort simply isn't possible then here's what to do:

Go to the Westfall coast and Swim into Strangelthorn Vale (use Unending Breath if you're a Warlock or get that underwater and fast swimming Elixr from an Alc). Swim Southeast along the boarder with the dark water (you'll know since a Fatigue Bar automatically appears in this kind of water) until you get to Booty Bay. From there take the boat to Rachet. Takes a good 30 to 45 mins but that's only if you can't get an Escort >.>;

Commentaire de Thottbot

there is 9 or more rare´s in barrens, 3 of them is in RFK and WC. 2 in RFK 1 in WC
there is many rare´s in barrens, there is a raptor, a zebra, a razormane, one in lushwater oasis, a thunderhawk behind the hill in camp taurajo, and a lion close to ratchet. GL finding them :) (i found them all)

Commentaire de Thottbot

You should try going to the other continent, Eastern Kingdoms(yeh, time to explore!).
Just fly to Undercity, walk to Sepulcher in Silverpine Forest get the flight path there, walk to Hillsbrad Foothills (ZOMGZZ it is da NEUTRAL AREA!). And make your way to Tarren Mill, dont turn to Hillsbrad Farms or Southshore those are baaaaaaaad for you ;).
Or go too far and enter Arathi Highlands, or even Hinterlands :O.

Commentaire de Thottbot

1. upper barrens lvl 12-20

2. lower barrens 20-25/7

You can go straight to lower barrens (camp taurajo) if you've completed ghostlands/silverpine.

From here, it's off to stonetalon mountains, then thousand needles or hillsbrad foothills.

1st half of thousand needles then 1st half of hillsbrad, then 2nd half of TN then 2nd of the hills.

or the other way around, this is because you will exhaust the TN quests before you're high enough to get more from the area, then you'll be faced with a grind...or go to hillsbrad for a few quests, and vice versa.

The vendor next to crossroads flightmaster sells herbs & holy protection potion recipes (limited supply).

I've created a leveling guide/quest guide to help players make it through this zone in the quickest and easiest possible way. My guide will contain each quest that is worth doing and give you a detailed explination on each quest as well as a map to guide you along. Quest dungeon with several collection quests associated. The 'goal' of the instance involves waking a nightmare plagued soul with a Tauren shaman. The end guy is a level 24 elite that hits for 120'ish and is highly resistant. Druid haven, where every named night elf seems to drop a different piece of *SET* leather armor (more than one piece of the armor gives additional bonuses).

Takes approximately 2-3 hours to clear the dungeon, respawn occurs apparently after about 30 minutes.

Killed it, returned to the druid at the start, protected him whilst he lead us through the cavern. He did some kind of ritual, we killed the guys that tried to attack him.

Pop! A Giant Fish Man attacked us, we killed it after a few minutes and then decided we were bored.

But anyways... I ran the dungeon with a quild friend who is a 38 Orc warrior... it was really easy with him there... I died twice because of aggros. It took us, I should say him.. I was pretty much a bystander, about an hour or so to complete Leaders of the Fang and we killed the big elemental person but didn't go any further. The elemental gave me a great shield which I plan to use at 20... once of the Leaders of the Fang gave me a mail which I also plan to use at 19. I got like one gold or so off of it... would have been a lot more if I had room in bags.

This area is a non-instanced elite dungeon in The Barrens. Entered it with a three-man group, 16 orc warrior, 17 troll priest, 18 orc warlock. Died a few times, due to wandering adds. Lots of raptors, some ectoplasms that will clone a new one near death, some flying reptile things, and lvl 1 snakes that show as aggressive but don't attack.

Mob levels seems to be 16-17ish at least as far as we've gotten. Didn't see any nameds, so I'm sure we didn't get too far.

From the Crossroads, head North until the road forks. At this intersection the the road heads North, East, and South. The sign at this intersection has 4 directions posted on it:

North - Ashenvale
East - Durotar
South (top) - The Crossroads
South (bottom) - Mulgore

From this sign, look NW. You will see the mountain you need to climb.

Once you are near the peak of the mountain, the area turns into a red-mist. At that point you are very close. Just follow the terrain upwards and you will be there in no time.

Monsters in this area are Humanoids and vary from about level 11 to 15.

the quest for DM peak is called "the summoner" which is the 2nd part of the quest that involves grabbing intact bracers from water elementals in the water area south of greenpaw village in ashenvale. the 1st part is also started by a sentinel in the same area (building).

both summoner and the preceeding quests are lvl 25 according to cosmos

Dreadmist is not on the map if you're looking at your world map until you actually find it and the words 'Dreadmist Peak' flash on your screen.

If you have yet to find Dreadmist, it is directly North East of "The Forgotten Pools", and you will run into the Mountainous terrain far before you would hit the road going in the same North East direction from "The Forgotten Pools".

Remembering what the world map looked like before and after having Dreadmist located, Dreadmist's area was something of a whited out circular area.

To get to the top of this peak you will want to approach it from the North side.

Commentaire de Allakhazam

The location is spelled: Boulder Lode Mine as per a quest given in Ratchet.

Commentaire de Allakhazam

It is on the edge of Duntar. Follow the East road out of The Crossroads and you can't miss it.

Be very careful looking for Fray, because there are allot of high-level areas out there, also Fray is almost completely surronded by deep water. So you might drown trying to get there. Leave from Ratchet, do not, do not leave from Theramore. There are lots of 40+ mobs and you are probably 20-35.
