2-Set - Warlock Affliction 10.2 Class Set 2pc - Soul Rot deals 15% increased damage and lasts an additional 4 sec.

4-Set - Warlock Affliction 10.2 Class Set 4pc - Soul Rot causes your next 3 casts of Malefic Rapture within 12 sec to deal 50% increased damage and extend the duration of your Agony, Corruption, Siphon Life, Unstable Affliction, Haunt, Vile Taint, and Phantom Singularity by 2 sec.

Gameplay

The Affliction Warlock Tier bonus in Patch 10.2 is an interesting one. The 2-set increasing the damage of Putrefacción de alma by 15% is not the most impactful, but the 4 second duration increase (from 8 to 12 seconds) is relatively strong.

The 4-set empowers our Putrefacción de alma in a sense, causing the next 3 Éxtasis maléfico we cast to deal 50% increased damage and extend the duration of all our other dots (including Poseer) by 2 seconds per Rapture. This extension effect, when paired with the 4 second Putrefacción de alma duration increase from the 2-set, gives us more time to cast additional fully empowered Éxtasis maléfico's. This also means that we do not have to refresh dots as often after casting Soul Rot, allowing us more time to cast Drenar alma, which can also lead to additional Crescendo atormentado procs.

Multi-Target Issues

The downside to Affliction's Tier bonus is that it is really only applicable in single or 2-3 target settings. While you will cast Putrefacción de alma in Mythic + and heavy AOE settings, the dot extensions only occur from casting Éxtasis maléfico, not Semilla de corrupción. Affliction's damage profile is strong in heavy AOE thanks to talents like Flor de fatalidad and Siembra de semillas, but it struggles with refreshing dots in heavy AOE. Unfortunately, Mácula vil has a 30 second cooldown, which is longer than the max duration of Agonía.

While adding Semilla de corrupción to the Tier set (which would then be both Éxtasis maléfico and Semilla de corrupción based) would not alleviate the Agonía duration issue, it would be a large QOL increase for Affliction and one that I feel should be taken into consideration. The Tier bonus will still provide a bit of additional single target damage for M+ boss encounters, but feels a bit awkward not being universally applicable.

Conclusion

Overall, Affliction's Tier bonus feels exciting to play with and is relatively strong in single target/raid encounters (everyone loves huge Éxtasis maléfico crits), but mediocre in dungeons. There will be an element of RNG in your opener/Putrefacción de alma windows with crits, but that simply comes with the territory. With a couple small changes however, it could be an exciting bonus to play with in all forms of content. With is still being early in PTR testing, my fingers are crossed for Blizzard to add a Semilla de corrupción clause to the 4-set.

Demonology Warlock Season 3 Tier Set First Impression

2-Set - Warlock Demonology 10.2 Class Set 2pc - Demonbolt now applies a Doom Brand that explodes after 20 sec, dealing (79.6289% of Spell power) Shadow damage to nearby enemies. Demonbolt and Hand of Gul'dan reduce the duration of the primary target's Doom Brand by 1 sec.

4-Set - Warlock Demonology 10.2 Class Set 4pc - Hand of Gul'dan damage increased by 15%. When Doom Brand explodes, you have a chance to summon a Doomfiend that blasts your target for (81.0779% of Spell power) Shadow damage every 3 sec for 15 sec.

Gameplay

The the initial release of Season 3, Demonology got a fairly lackluster tier bonus compared to our Season 2 bonus. Where we are going from a set bonus that synergizes with multiple aspects of our talent tree to a bonus that has nearly no synergy with any talents. Instead we are given a very toned down, reworked version of an old talent, Hand of Doom.

While giving Demonology more baseline ability to cleave/AoE through spreading your Descarga de demonio onto multiple targets; in order to maintain the Doom Brand on multiple targets can be challenging especially if you are trying to maximize the output that could be available to you since the duration is only reduced on the primary target that Mano de Gul'dan hits and not any of the mobs the splash damage does. This forces you into rotating around different mobs to both apply the debuff and to juggle one DoT across all targets; effectively spreading out the damage of your Wild Imps as well. The tier bonus puts Demonology into a situation where you are multi-dotting like Affliction but with a more complicated way of making the damage occur since Doom Brand does no damage until the debuff expires/the mob with Doom Brand dies.

Feedback

There are some definite improvements that could be made that can still take inspiration from Hand of Doom:

Make the splash damage from Mano de Gul'dan apply a "lesser" Doom Brand that does reduced damage (and only to that target) while keeping the AoE element to the
Give the ability to have the splash damage from Mano de Gul'dan reduce the duration of Doom Brand but at a reduced rate.
Keep the application of Doom Brand to the primary target through either Mano de Gul'dan or Descarga de demonio but provide a damage bonus if you are hitting only one target. Given that this bonus does AoE damage when the debuff expires/its target dies it is low power in single target situations.

The four piece bonus giving Demonology a more "Demonology" feeling bringing back Doomguards into the mix is nice flavour and gives you the feeling of playing Doom, without actually taking the talent. There needs to be some tuning in regards to proc chance/damage profiling but the bonus itself is a neat homage to the roots of Demonology.

Generally speaking this Seasons bonus feels more like a callback/homage to Demonology of old but with a "modern" rebranding. It gives us the feeling of applying multiple Dooms (albeit in a much more convoluted way as compared to the inspiration of the bonus) without having to take the talent but removes a lot of synergy of other talents that we are used to having from the Season 2 set bonus. As a big fan of Hand of Doom it's nice to see them listening to some feedback of bringing it back, however the implementation is a little lackluster wherein it creates a complicated juggling act to apply/explode more Doom Brands.

Destruction Warlock Season 3 Tier Set First Impression

2-Set - Warlock Destruction 10.2 Class Set 2pc - Immolate damage increased by 20%. Immolate periodic damage has a chance to grant a charge of Dimensional Rift.

4-Set - Warlock Destruction 10.2 Class Set 4pc - Dimensional Rift can now summon a powerful Flame Rift which fires 20 Searing Bolts that deal (25.3165% of Spell power) Fire damage to its target and an additional (10.1302% of Spell power) Fire damage over 10 sec to nearby enemies.

With the release of Season 3, Destruction is getting yet another set bonus that revolves largely around a specific talent. In season 2 we picked up Canalizar fuego demoníaco in order to make full use of our set bonuses. In season 3 we also get a set bonus that revolves around a talent we haven't yet used a whole lot in PvE, this is Falla dimensional.

Gameplay

As this is not a talent we have been playing a whole lot before, this means the playstyle changes slightly. That being said, Falla dimensional doesn't actually interact with a whole lot of our kit, meaning we pretty much just get a new damage source, that can be used on the move. In season 2 you had to consider when to use Canalizar fuego demoníaco to proc the damage increase from the set bonus, but in season 3 we just get a whole lot more Falla dimensional casts, and these have a chance to proc a flame rift that deals more damage.

Strength

Looking at raiding, this set bonus is fairly strong, for a few reasons. We get more damage on the move, as Falla dimensional is an instant cast. We can sit on a stack of this at all times, and then use it right when we have to move. Previously we only had Conflagrar to cast on the move and if you didn't you would just have to accept the downtime in dps. You could also consider saving up multiple stacks of Falla dimensional, to then deal more on-demand dps onto a priority target. Although with how the 2-set works, you could risk losing out on Falla dimensional casts so this may not be worth it in all situations.

For dungeons and Mythic+, this set bonus is not what you were hoping for. In Mythic+ Destruction has largely been playing a setup that included a lot of Lluvia de Fuego casts, proccing Ritual de ruina and Avatar de destrucción. This setup benefits greatly from Caos encarnado, which is the alternative talent in the same note as Falla dimensional. This means, in order to pick up Falla dimensional you would be losing out on Caos encarnado. Some Warlocks have even been discussing if this would end up being worth it, as the only Falla dimensional that deals any AoE damage is the fire portal from our 4-set.

It's going to be interesting to see what version of this set bonus goes live because, in its current state, it looks like a set bonus that only really benefits single target and light cleave. And if this set bonus doesn't change, what that will mean for the Mythic+ talent setup for Destruction. If this version goes live, it's very unlikely Destruction will be a good contender for a Mythic+ spot.
