Previously believed to only be a special transmog appearance,
El frío devorador
has been updated on the PTR with stats, a new on-use effect, and will now drop from Kel'Thuzad in the Sanctum of Domination raid. The sword is an updated version of
Asesino del Difunto
/
El frío voraz
, which also gained fame as the Sword of a Thousand Truths featured on Southpark.

confirmed to change sheathing location
between back and hip!
The new on-use effect:
Adjust your weapon
It's not currently known exactly what the on-use effect does, but the description indicates that it is cosmetic-only, rather than a combat effect. Kel'Thuzad, now returning as a raid boss for the third time in Warcraft history, is the penultimate boss in Sanctum of Domination. Because it is no longer a transmog weapon, however, it also now has different tints for each raid difficulty.
LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficult appearances, respectively.
The

is an updated version of the original

model obtained in Naxxramas (
El frío voraz
in Vanilla/Classic), which also rose to fame in the South Park episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft", where it was known as the Sword of a Thousand Truths. Despite having the same model, the Hungering Cold sheathed on the hip while Slayer of the Lifeless sheathed on the back, and this may be a clue as to what the special on-use effect of the Devouring Cold will do once we can finally obtain it in game - allowing players to customize weapon sheathing location has been a long requested feature within WoW.
