This week's GG WoW video features Theun, healer and analyst of <BDGG>! Theun joins Dratnos and Tettles to cover the
massive 40% increase to both Player Health
and Creature Damage which hit the beta this week.
What do you think about the 40% Player Health / Creature Damage buff? Will you be affected by the change to the Inspiration Catalyst? Let us know in the comments!
Massive Healing Changes
The fact that both our health and enemies' damage are increasing by the same amount means that effectively, healing has been nerfed, though healing effects that scale with incoming damage or player health are generally not affected. The goal here is to make raid damage less one-shotty while still being important to healers, though importantly this change only lays the groundwork for that (a larger health bar) and it will rely on nerfs to the most one-shotty boss abilities.
The change is also a relative buff to some specs and classes, such as healers with damage reduction in their kits like Discipline Priests and Paladins, healers with less pressure on their mana pools like Paladins, and healers whose damage is largely passive, like Discipline Priests and Paladins. It's also a nerf to tank specs that rely on external healing rather than those who can sustain their own health bars. Provided these balance effects are corrected for, Dratnos, Tettles, and Theun are optimistic about this move, with less total time being spent at full health making life more interesting for healers.
Inspiration Catalyst
The Inspiration Catalyst
has also received some changes this week
, moving to a Weekly Quest that grants a charge of the catalyst rather than charges being acquired automatically but then requiring a currency to use. Players who play the game every week will likely not find this to be an impactful change, depending on how demanding the weekly quest is, especially because the charges are earned account-wide but can then be spent on each character. For anyone completing the weekly quest every week, this will be functionally identical to the S3 Shadowlands catalyst, but anyone returning to the patch late or who misses a few weeks of the quest will find themselves with fewer charges, which is something that Dratnos and Tettles hope to see addressed.
