Echo Wipes at 49.6%, Confirming the Sylvanas Encounter Does Not End at 50%
18/07/2021 a las 15:34
After a lightning round of pulls wiping at 51.8%, 51.2%, and 50.6%, Echo has managed to dig deep and push as hard as they can to reach the expected end of the fight at 50%... only to wipe at 49.6%. Having confirmed that the encounter does go beyond the 50% stopping point on Normal and Heroic difficulties, it now seems likely that the
datamined last week
means the encounter ends at 45%.
The nerdscreams are a lie :(
This last minute hotfix would seem to indicate that Blizzard underestimated how quickly race guilds would push through Sanctum of Domination, trying to ensure that Sylvanas puts up a good fight and might survive the first Mythic lockout. It has truly been an interesting tier, as it feels like the first few bosses were the hardest, and it all went downhill after Painsmith - no other boss took
more than 30 pulls
, while Painsmith and Sylvanas are so far just barely over 100. Denathrius also went down relatively quickly in 114 pulls, although the Stone Legion Generals took an alarming 381, though by contrast in G’huun took 285, Jaina saw 346, Uu’nat over 700, Queen Azshara required 359, and N'Zoth took 274 pulls in Battle for Azeroth.
With this revelation that the hotfixed amount of 45% will be the actual end of the encounter, the real question is whether or not the race guilds will have enough actual damage to get that far in this first week of the Mythic tier. On the one hand, there's a lot of power progression this tier that those guilds haven't tapped into yet - aside from regular item level inflation, there are special effect weapons, upgradeable Shards of Domination, and their three gem set bonuses, which most of the raiders haven't tapped into yet. On the other hand, it will be incredibly disappointing for Echo if another guild leapfrogs ahead of them due better gear upgrades after the next weekly reset. There's a tricky balance at work, as we don't want to see an unsastisfying race which ends too quickly due to poor tuning, but also don't want to see the race undermined by uncontrollable elements like RNG, or the day early reset for North American realms.
