Artifacts in Battle for Azeroth
As of June 26th, completing the quest
El poder en nuestras manos
will further empower your Artifact Weapon, enabling all traits and at least
Acuerdo del Ocaso de la Legión
level 75, further increasing in power over time until the Battle for Azeroth pre-expansion patch.
Therefore, only the Netherlight Crucible recommendations are relevant on this guide page leading up to BFA, as you already receive all Artifact Traits by default. This makes content easier to complete, especially some
content going away
such as
Ahead of the Curve
and
Mage Tower Challenges
.
In the
BFA pre-patch
, your Artifact Traits will be removed, and relics will simply increase the item level of your artifact weapon. However, many artifact traits are returning as talents or azerite powers in Battle for Azeroth and we have a compiled a
full list you can read here
.
Moving forward in Battle for Azeroth, you will still be able to acquire the Artifact Weapon which will mainly interest transmog collectors for the appearances. Learn how to unlock all appearances in BFA with our
Artifact Appearance Guide
.
Artifact Weapon:
The Silver Hand
Active Ability
Equipping The Silver Hand grants you the ability
Liberación de Tyr
, which unleashes the Light from inside your artifact, passively healing your allies and increasing the healing from
Luz Sagrada
and
Destello de Luz
for a small period of time.
Netherlight Crucible
The values for the new shadow/light traits below are subject to change based on hotfix's/new information.
The
Netherlight Crucible
is a new system added in Patch 7.3. The Crucible allows you further empower your Holy Paladin Artifact Weapon, by specializing and increasing the power from your relics. With it, each relic receives a small talent tree that you can select new traits from, depending how many traits your weapon have. Do not worry, however, because with the changes to
Artifact Knowledge
, unlocking the full power of the Crucible won't take long. Learn everything about this new system in our
Netherlight Crucible Guide
.
The traits unlock as you spend points into
Acuerdo del Ocaso de la Legión
.
The first tier of unlocks happens as you unlock the crucible giving you +5 item level per relic. (total of 15 item levels).
Shadow/Light Traits
The Second tier of unlocks happens at 60,63,66.
The traits unlock randomly but below is a rough priority for which traits to chose if given the choice between them. It is worth noting that as a healer the game will force at least one of your "Shadow" or "Holy" Traits to be a throughput increase, the other however can be a damage trait which is less useful as healers. With the opening of
Antorus, el Trono Ardiente
, it is now possible to obtain
Insignia del Gran Ejército
, which increases the potency of your Tier 2 Crucible traits by 50%. It might be a really strong legendary if you are lucky with Netherlight Crucible rolls!
Holy:
Caparazón refractivo
Infusión de Luz
Velocidad de la Luz
Choque de Luz
Abrazo de la Luz
Seguridad en la Luz
Shadow:
Most of the Shadow traits are damage traits as such only two are actual throughput increases. Below you will find those two, the rest should be considered to be roughly a zero HPS gain. (Some have minor heal effects when you deal damage which will proc off of our damaging spells.) but they will not be impactful enough to notice.
Maestro de las Sombras
Propósito asesino
As it stands right now taking
Maestro de las Sombras
will always be the priority option being better than all of the Light traits AND all of the shadow traits, mastery being one of our best stats, and avoidance being extremely potent in dungeons and raids makes it a very potent option as of current tuning.
Tier 3:
These traits unlock at 69,72,75 traits in your weapon. These mimic your "Bronze" traits, though they cannot roll the trait you already have on that relic. For these ones you should follow the same ordering as the relics.
Tratamiento de choque
- 3 Weapon Ilvl
Luz entregadora
- 2 Weapon Ilvl
Segundo amanecer
- 2 Weapon Ilvl
Expulsar oscuridad
- 1 Weapon Ilvl
Munificencia de Tyr
- 0.5 Weapon Ilvl
Justicia con sacrificio
- 0.2 Weapon Ilvl (3 Weapon Ilvl if using
Último aliento de Maraad
)
Which Shadow/Light traits do i choose?
Due to the large amount of RNG in this system it is difficult to have a "one size fits all" solution to which traits to choose for your Holy Paladin Artifact. For the most part you should think about the traits in buckets, similar to legendarys. Below is also a ballpark range for item level value (on the weapon). Due to the nature of healing and encounter design the value of the traits fluctuate and so does their value. Meaning that the ilvl values given below will vary slightly. Remember in most cases your "Tier 2" traits will be better than your "Tier 3 Traits" so if it means taking one of the better "Tier 2 Traits" that leads into a zero throughput "Tier 3 trait" it is worth doing so.
Class A:
These are all tuned roughly to be equivalent, and any one of them is a very solid choice.
Maestro de las Sombras
- 5 Weapon Ilvl
Abrazo de la Luz
- 4 Weapon Ilvl (This one has a higher variance than others, on fights with high ticking damage it outperforms all other traits however with little AoE damage it is a Class B: trait.)
Infusión de Luz
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Caparazón refractivo
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Class B:
These all provide a slight throughput gain but not as powerful as the A class traits.
Propósito asesino
- 4 Weapon Ilvl
Velocidad de la Luz
- 3 Weapon Ilvl
Choque de Luz
- 3 Weapon Ilvl
Seguridad en la Luz
- 2 Weapon Ilvl
Class C:
These traits all provide next to no throughput, and should be thought of as a zero, or near zero gain.
Oscuridad caótica
Tormento a los débiles
Penas oscuras
Atadura de las Sombras
After you have selected your Tier 3 trait take the best option of the two Tier 3 traits you have using the above priority list (That is the same priority as you would when choosing relic traits before the Crucible).
Unfortunately the game can dish out a "bad roll" and it gets slightly more complicated to choose the correct traits. As it is entirely possible that your traits on the third row (The standard class specific "Bronze" traits) are placed in such a manner that you have to choose a shadow/light trait that provides zero throughput, in order to get to a "useful" bronze trait. In this case you will want to replace that relic if possible, but that takes time. Luckily, as a Holy Paladin most of our "Bronze" traits are rather weak, and all of the Class A: traits are more potent than one of said traits on their own. So it is worth it to choose a Class A: trait even if it leads to a zero throughput bronze trait. Ideally you are never placed in that situation, but it is a possibility.
Improving your Artifact
As of patch 7.3 it is very easy to upgrade your Holy Paladin artifact quickly, as such the first 50 or so traits happen in a matter of literal minutes of being max level. But below you will find the optimal route to take for the first 52 traits.
1/1
Virtudes de la Luz
3/3
Segundo amanecer
3/3
Tratamiento de choque
1/1
Protección de la Luz
3/3
Bendiciones de la Mano de Plata
3/3
Expulsar oscuridad
3/3
Luz entregadora
3/3
Poder de la Mano de Plata
Poder de la Mano de Plata
can be a very strong trait but not something you should try to build up for the sake of getting a huge heal. If you're keeping
Choque Sagrado
on cooldown, you won't have to worry about losing the buff with it. The only issue you might run into is using
Choque Sagrado
as damage and then not having enough time to use
Choque Sagrado
again before the buff wears off. While it may be fun to keep track of how much
Poder de la Mano de Plata
is going to heal for, it would most likely just be clutter on your screen.
For dungeons, using the
Poder de la Mano de Plata
buff can provide incredible group healing with
Señal de virtud
. All Beacon abilities have a slight delay between a heal going off and then transferring to your Beacon targets; you can make great use of this by pre-casting
Destello de Luz
and then immediately casting
Señal de virtud
as soon as it goes off. Follow this up with
Luz del alba
and
Choque Sagrado
for amazing burst healing for your group.
Next you want to go straight for
Protección de Tyr
to the right from
Segundo amanecer
:
1/1
Templario de la Luz
3/3
Sanación enfocada
1/1
Protección de Tyr
Protección de Tyr
isn't necessarily interesting, but it is very useful. Coupled with
Templario de la Luz
,
Maestría de aura
becomes 20% damage reduction and 15% increased healing for 8 seconds. We should be able to get this trait by the time Mythic raiding starts or at least very soon after.
After finishing
Protección de Tyr
, we can go back and pick up
Vindicador
and then
Luz salvadora
as our last Golden trait.
Luz salvadora
is nice to have, but it's not all that great. We typically don't want to be healing our Beacon targets because then we don't get much out of our Beacons. We should still make use of the buff as it is an increase to healing, it's just not that significant.
Once you've gotten all three of your major artifact traits, pick up
Justicia con sacrificio
,
Bendición de sacrificio
, and then
Caballero de la Mano de Plata
.
Empowered Artifact Weapon
As of patch 7.3 these traits unlock without doing the Broken Shore questline(s).
Below is the recommended path to unlock the "Empowered Traits"
1/1
Luz de la Mano de Plata
4/4
Tratamiento de choque
4/4
Luz entregadora
4/4
Segundo amanecer
4/4
Expulsar oscuridad
4/4
Munificencia de Tyr
1/1
Estoicismo
1/1
Alba sagrada
At this point traits become more utility based/situational.
4/4
Sanación enfocada
4/4
Justicia con sacrificio
4/4
Bendición de sacrificio
4/4
Caballero de la Mano de Plata
4/4
Bendiciones de la Mano de Plata
After completing the above path you will unlock
Acuerdo del Ocaso de la Legión
which is what you should do with any extra Artifact Power you want to spend in your Holy weapon!
Relic choice
For the most part item level will win out, that being said there are a few relics that provide little to no throughput benefit, and others that provide a slightly larger throughput gain. Below are the rough weapon itemlevel values. This means the item level increase on the physical weapon, not the relic itself. *note* the value varys depending on talent choice, set bonuses and legendarys. so this is a
rough
guideline. But gives you ballpark numbers so as to get a better idea what relic's to slot.
Tratamiento de choque
- 3 Weapon item levels
Luz entregadora
- 2 Weapon Item levels
Segundo amanecer
- 1 Weapon Item level
Expulsar oscuridad
- 1 Weapon Item level
Munificencia de Tyr
- 0.5 Weapon Item level
