Question About Latency

Howdy.
What is an acceptable playing latency? I'm on a server that has a 15 ms ping to the datacenter and am considerng transferring to one of the new ones... and it pings at 65 ms.
When I'm in game the new one is showing 80 ms versus an my current one of 25 ms. (And at the time of the test, ironically, the "faster" server had some loot lag.)
Anyway, for those that have played on different servers with different latencies, is there any observable difference? Doing a small test didn't yield anything obvious. But I wasn't in a group or raid.
Thanks.

Loot lag isn't necessarily due to latency. It can be, and often is, data processing issues on Blizzards end. With WoW's method of play, it is quite playable without too many problems until latency is several hundred. Sub 100 is very good.

I'm playing at around an average of 220 ms, and it's going well for me. But I also have around an average of 30 fps, so that's nice too.

As a human being I doubt you would be able to perceive any difference in your spell taking .025 seconds to cast after pressing the button and your spell taking .080 seconds to caster after pressing the button.
Or a difference of .025 seconds and .080 seconds when looting a mob.
Or a difference of .025 seconds and .080 seconds when interacting with an object.
Only when latency gets up to 500 ms (half a second) - 1000 ms (a full second) and above does it really become obvious.
Personally I doubt I could differentiate any obvious difference between .080 (80 ms) seconds of lag and .250 (250 ms) seconds of lag between client and server.

You don't have to see the difference for your opponent to get the opening Sap off.
That said, if it's above 300 look into fixing it. If it's below 100, you're better off than the average player.

Excellent. To sum up, transferring servers from 25 ms to 80 ms is A-OK ;)
Much thanks. Your opinions jive with my expectations. Enjoy Azeroth!
