What Option has the higher drop rate while in a raid group? Master looter or personal loot?

Personal; Master looter someone can just steal everything from the raid.

I am in a guild raid group. We don't have that problem. I was looking at what's the %edg for drops between the two so we can decide what's a better choice so we can gear our group out as fast as we can. Thank you for the reply.

The drops rates statisticly should be the same. However, from my experience in 5mans, if you have 1 armor class geared far better than others (rng is rng), personal loot is better as less goes to waste.

The question with personal loot system is there a mechanism in place to guarantee that the same number of drops will appear for a given boss regardless if the loot system is on personal or traditional (NBG/ML/FFA). As far as I'm aware there is no protection mechanism in place to make sure that if say 3 piece of gear was suppose to drop using traditional looting then three people will get gear under personal looting. You can easily have four or two pieces drop in personal looting given how the server rolls to see if you won anything on an individual basis before assigning spec appropriate loot.

The answer is, we don't really know.
Master Loot has a 20% chance per person in the group, additive. Each full 100% chance is guaranteed drop. For example, if you have 15 people, that's 15 * 20% = 300% = 3 guaranteed drops. If you have 17 people, that's 17 * 20% = 340% = 3 guaranteed drops and a 40% chance of a 4th drop.
Personal loot drop chance is unknown. It's been suggested that it's 15%, which would give ML the lead on total drops (on average), but to my knowledge no one has actually done a study of the drop chance with any statistical significant or scientific rigor.

Since Blizzard is buffing the Personal loot option as of 6.1....it seems that the feature wasn't working properly in the first place; my guild has an Alt raid that tried to use Personal loot and they saw no drops off the bosses for multiple weeks in a row.

As far as I've seen, the only thing they are changing about Personal Loot in 6.1 is that tanks accessories will always have bonus armor on them, and healer accessories will always have spirit on them. Otherwise, all the changes are purely aesthetic. I've seen no information to the effect of altering the drop
chance
on Personal Loot.
