Something many tailors are not aware of (Or other professions) when you have an item in your list that says <random enchantment> that item has a chance to proc such good stats that it becomes a blue item. There is a list of level 85 items on all tailors/leather/BS that have Zen, those items can proc a blue quality item, that item is better than epics found in Cataclysm, and better than most drops they will see until later in the game.
So, level 85s want to be strong when they hit Panda Land - they buy them. On my server these blue items sell for 500g each. Sometimes I can craft an item 6 times get no proc, sometimes I can get a few procs in a row. Random is Random. The non procs i send to my enchanter to disenchant to make other items that sell. I do not sell the greens as i have found listing cost + chance to sell makes it not worth my time.
With that being said; Tailoring, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing have been relegated over the years to profession of value at the very beginning of an expansion, the above says the same thing. By the time x.1 comes out, everyone has better gear than anything you can make so you end up making bags for all and gear for those leveling into that expansion.
In end game you will get epic patterns, but those patterns have materials that very few players have access too and 95% of the time they get a guild member to craft it free. So at end game, you do not have a new profit center, you have an ability people supply the mats that you will have a hell of a time getting on your own.
You are not here to make money with your profession (Tailoring, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing -),

you are blizzards solution to a gearing problem with a flux of under-geared players
in any x.0.
So as of right now. "I make bags for players, I make gear for those leveling"
