They are nerfing healers that use SPIRIT, I myself use mp5 so I will be unaffected. Seriously, only 2 out of 4 different healer classes are getting a nerf pve-wise, and frankly its a needed one. Druids are capable of spamming far too many spells at the moment, even without a replenishment effect.

Its getting to the point where I myself am the only one (in rare situations still) who has to say the dreaded phrase 'OOM'. This was a much common occurence in earlier versions of WoW, so why should it not be implemented again?

Sure its going to take more skill, the same way the new raid instance will as well. If only healers won't deal with the challenge, thats more rewarding for those that will.

Also, healers are the easiest to blame when a group wipe. DPS dies? Healer's fault. Tank dies? Healer's fault (I agree with this though). Healer dies? It's still the healer's fault for not keeping themselves alive. Of course, I'm saying this happens even when the whole group is competent. I'm not saying everyone does this, but rather, in general.

Bah...blaming the healer is a noob thing to do (unless it's truely their fault). Crappy tanks that can't hold aggro...ok, group sux. Crappy dps that can't hold agro...ok, dps sux. Crappy healers that can't chain heal...ok, group sux once again.

Dps is not only a more fun spec, but it also has the least responsibility...oh, and it's the easiest, worring about 1 person as opposed to 5-25 people.

Back on topic with the regen nerf, it wasn't too bad on priests. For holy and shadow, we got buffed in our i5SR time (talent wise) so the total regen is exactly as it was before, only a nerf in o5SR. Discipline got it's own nerf with rapture, but I hear they are still pretty decent for regen.

What it really comes down to is forcing healers to have more skill. Less regen = less heals = better heals = group/raid fine. The white stats we shoot for will also probably change to compensate for lack of spirit's affectiveness.

No really its not.

faceroll aoe damage was always bringing alot of un-checked aggro.

most dps that can aoe would do so even before tank(s) could generate enough threat on all present targets.

But hey, it was ok since our healers had the mana regen to heal us through this stupidity.

So once your raid has worked out that ulduar won't be faceroll mode and that careful and tactful application of your spells will far more necessecary than before, you will find that the regen scenario blizzard has left us in fits the bill.

guys if you noticed, that intensity for example in druid resto tree is increased by 20% so now its regenerating 50% of your mana regeneration so they lowered spirit mana regen and buffed mana regeneration in genereally? so i think your mp5 from spirit will stay same as a druid
edit: mages have their mana regen from spirit, increased too and priest too and shamans get improved totem i think, so their mana regen will improve too

Well so far it looks like this is not the case. Most of the analysis seems to point to "better" regen of a smaller amount and that the overall effect will be relatively flat. More suggestive is Blizzard's comments about thinking that it would be good for magi not to take their mana for granted and that spirit would become an "interesting" stat. Most of the data that we've seen from the PTR suggests that, in a raid, total mana recovery will be lower in 3.1. This is in part because of changes to replenishment stacking.

However its all purely speculation until we get a lot more mage/mana changes in the PTR. It could be better, it could be worse. The only thing that seems certain is that it will be different.

Really ugly duckling? Thats a bit of a bummer but I'll take it in stride.

As for the living ice crystals, I've found my sapphire owl (which is getting an epic version im told :D) serves that purpose effectively. 91 mp5 is a bit of a dip, but compared to other healer classes I still think I am fortunate. Considering blessed up and buffed with flasks (using the totem) I had about 640 mp5 (not counting replenishment effects and various on cast procs) I don't see this as a horrible loss. Except for 3D, the raid content was pretty easy to heal and I'm hoping for a greater challenge in Uludar. As for the mana pots, I have to agree with you there, I still havent used my first stack of 20 I bought >.<.

Hate to break your bubble, booterang, but in fact ALL healkers(and casters in general) are getting a nerf to their mana regen. Blizz is now making mana spring totem and BoW exclusive, which means every single caster class is losing 91 mp5, which is a goodly chunk. Basically Blizz has decided that they don't like any class of caster being able to spam spells without paying attention to mana management, so one and all are getting the nerf stick. I suggest that if you're able, go get the Living Ice Crystals from Malygos. They will be a big help in any longevity fights. Personally, the thing I dislike most about it, is going back to spending tonnes of gold on mana pots. D:

This value is slightly incorrect. In 3.1.0, casters are not losing 91 mp5 due to BoW and Mana Spring being exclusive. Mana Spring Totem currently restores 85 mp5 (106 mp5 improved), whereas Blessing of Wisdom is 91 and 110 mp5 for normal and fully improved versions. The Mana Spring Totem is being brought to BoW's level (a very small improvement) as well as being improved to affect the entire raid (a large improvement for a group without a Paladin post-patch).

Basically, pre-patch to post-patch, casters are losing 85 mp5 if they ran without a resto shaman, and 106 mp5 if they ran with one, since it was the weaker of the two, but only if they managed to be in the party of the Shaman. Blessing of Wisdom should still be the preferred method of mana regeneration for mana users due to its independence (no totem in range required), especially since Mana Tide totem appears to still stack with Blessing of Wisdom? A Shaman, as far as I know, cannot have both totems out at one time. So Shamans can still squeeze some mana back into the casters as needed, with that one.

I probably went off on a tangent that didn't matter too much, but I was bothered that you instantly shrugged off Blessing of Wisdom instead of assuming the totem would be the replaced entity.

I like healing but I don't like the new changes. I will be dual speccing DPS and wherever possible I will most probably go dps. It's just easier. Healers have a lot of pressure and no one ever says thanks or good job - only has a go at them if they die (or so it seems). 1 healer dies and the group could wipe - usually you can afford to lose a DPS or two and DPS seem quite happy to over aggro and put more pressure on healers just to see themselves on the top of recount.

I'm sure that with dual specs many people will dual spec healer, however, I think the quality of healers may well go down - a lot of people may be available as dual spec healer but this won't be their primary so they are likely to be less experienced and have worse gear than those who play healer every time, rather than just when a raid is desperate.
