Guild for serious and casual?

I'm not sure how to characterize my situation, but I am having a hard time finding an appropriate guild. I'm experienced but not "hardcore." I know my class and I know how to research fights ahead of time but I don't want to feel like if I can't always make it to raid times that I will be set to the side or never asked to raid again. I can come prepared with all consumables, buffs and the right mindset but I don't want it to feel like I am performing for a job, or a demanding boss who will just let me go if I'm not *ka-ching profit* WIN. I want a group of people that stick around because they enjoy the game, and playing with each other and not PURELY for the reason of the fastest possible progression, but at the same time with an eye to mount up to the challenges that the game has to offer...
anyways, does anyone have any suggestions to find a place for myself?
Maybe I need to start my own guild?
I'm on US-H-Kil'jaeden BTW.

I'm in a similar situation with Blackmarquetbaby, I want to raid, I'm a sensible player, but I don't want to be in a raid where everyone is just raiding constantly and only have thier minds fixed on end-game raiding, nothing else.
I'd like to be in a guild where they do old content for fun (no mucking around) as well.

Given the choice, you want a casual guild.
I found myself in your situation (albeit on another server). My solution was to convince a bunch of people I know outside of the game to all join up in a new guild. We have fun, but our main problem is one of numbers. We have enough people for 10-mans, but they don't log on consistently. We end up merging with other groups on our raid nights more often than not. If there is a challenge with a casual guild, it will likely be that.

i suppose the casual route sounds the one for me. The problem was that I was in college, and I was in great raiding guilds, and I had MORE than enough time for them. Now that I have a career and a GF, WoW obviously takes the wayside. No matter how much I tried with my previous guild, I just wasn't core enough to be granted a slot, which I now realize is more time than just being above average on the competency scale.
It's a Little disappointing having to re-app to guilds that I used to run with and find that I no longer meet their requirements. My question is this: unless I am to start my own guild (recruiting real life friends is pretty out of the question, none play games, especially not WoW) where do I find these guilds? Spam guild recruitment in dalaran?
I appreciate all your advice. This is like a weird WoW crisis. Stoopid, I know.

if they offer one free faction change, then i'd be there like a moth to flame... unfortunately though, on KJ, Horde pretty significantly outnumber the alliance, especially in terms of PVE :(

Thank you dead, I think I share your sentiment, which is why I need a casual guild that still has the... lets say experience to at least perform well when the need to coordinate your performance in a raid arises.
And yes, I have a career that I enjoy, so I certainly don't need WoW to be prioritized in any fashion.
The only question is, where and how do I find this dream guild? I certainly can't seem to find them advertising on any of the guild recruitment forums.
