Just throwin it out there, no truth or beta/insider info on the subject but... i would laugh SO hard if u and ur guild progress all the way to the frozen throne and kill arthas just to hear all the fury warrs cry because frostmourne turns out to be a runeblade and deathknight only :P

That would be hilarious, to bad that isn't happening. Its going to be a two hand sword that can turn into 2 1 hand swords.

It proves there's a test version of the Frostmourne implemented as an item during the pre-Alpha phase.
Hmm..
Not really. Just that there is an item with that graphic. There was an item with the graphic of Ashbringer in pre-BC, but it had unrealistic stats. There are the
Warglaives of Azzinoth
, which are distinctly different from what you see from Illidan.
The Arthas model is probably built like a player model and made to wield a Frostmourne model, like you see with bosses such as Prince and Vashj, rather than Frostmourne being built directly into the model's animations, like you see with non-humanoid enemies. Just because the model exists independently of its user does not mean a related weapon exists for players to access.

I don't really see your point(s) in reference to what you were responding to. Abuse of lore? What are you even talking about? Plz be a bit more specfic. Bottom line to me is if Illidan is going to drop the twin blades of Azzinoth then why wouldn't Arthas also drop fm? People sometimes act like this game and its lore is the equivalent to somethng like lotr, when in truth it is just based on a series of rts games which had a fairly good backstory. Allowing fm to drop is not going to ruin anything. I would say if anything, let fm have a couple of powers that only activate when being wielded by a dk.
"Whomsoever takes up this blade shall wield power eternal. Just as the blade rends flesh, so must power scar the spirit."
The sword is cursed, anyone who picks it up becomes a Death Knight and forfeits their soul to the Lich King. It turns them slowly evil, as well as drains their soul. It allows the Lich King to see through their eyes, speak to their mind. The wielder cannot part with it by their own will, and the sword will take control of their soul.
It's far too powerful an item to just give to someone. Unless it's significantly nerfed, or its power completely gone, then I wouldn't have a problem. In its base state, it would corrupt the wielder and turn them evil.
The Warglaives of Azzinoth do not have a curse on them, so they're okay to be dropped.

Yeh that's prob what blizzard will do, just randomly throw in a chain like tf to cleanse the blade and allow it to be wieldable. Either that....or do something along the lines like that broken weapon (lv 40-50 or w/e it is) and just get you to create an anti-curse item. *shrug*

ok. I can see where you are coming from now. My only arguement with the whole cursed part of it is that the curse was directly related to the idea of Ner'Zhul still being trapped within the armor and sword and needing a body to possess. Its entirely possible from a lore perspective that killing Arthas would break the curse and render the sword back in its original form which was still along the lines of being an artifact. I just think it is a foregone conclusion that the sword will be droppable and gives added incentive for guilds to try and down Arthas and hope for it to drop. What they need to do is come up with a few other items that could be on par with it for other non melee classes.
Actually, the sword was made by Kil'jaeden as a conduit for the Lich King's power. So it's original form is... a sword created by the greatest evil second only to Sargeras. The Lich King's soul is only trapped in the armor, the sword has no bearing on him at all.
However, I would be okay with a long, complicated, and DIFFICULT quest to cleanse the sword. If it's like Legendaries in TBC "oh, here you go, here are Illidan's swords" rather than those in the classic game, I would be very annoyed.
