To see what I mean, please view this thread from e.g. the mop subdomain.

Huevo de duende dardo - normal link without domain parameter, inherits the current subdomain
Huevo de duende dardo - German locale
Huevo de duende dardo - forced English (Live version) locale, usually from an automatically converted raw link

If you're on a domain other than www, the third link will only display "(Item #11474)" (or the respective locale's term for "item")
*edit* It seems that links to non-English locales while on the mop domain don't work either, while they do work on old.

This just has to do with how localization works. On the MoP site we have a "beta" localization so none of the live locale's will work as they simply don't exist on the mop subdomain. When a localization can't be found the link is replaced with a sane default of the form (<Type> #<Id>).
