The combined flavour text of each piece in this set tells the following story.

Part 1: Burning Heart of Shal’baas
The Patriarchs’ armies drove Shal’baas’s hundred from their oasis into caves beneath Aranoch. Shal’baas coaxed the flame to coil around his heart, and doubt fled him.

Part 2: Braided Serpent of Shal’baas
After Shal’baas strangled the great snake Nirmitruq, he wove it around himself, and its venom spread from his skin.

Part 3: Resting Fangs of Shal’baas
His blades burned with fire and his raids left Ivgorod’s caravans ablaze. But it was not victory enough for Shal’baas. He communed with wolves, and took on their claws and teeth.

Part 4: Dozen Strikes of Shal’baas
He led twelve raids against the invaders. With each attack, Shal’baas’s countenance grew more monstrous. Poison dripped from his fangs, and his steps boiled the sand.

Part 5: Storm-Tack of Shal’baas
Shal’baas scattered the enemy and left the oasis smoldering, then called to the preserving rains. But only a storm responded, and his band turned on him in fear.

Part 6: Wind-Trods of Shal’baas
Their knives tattered his clothes and skin, but did not kill Shal’baas. Grieving, he walked into the storm, and it ended. His people prayed for his return, but he was gone.
