Most of the revenue is probably from streamers dropping tens of thousands each into the game to prove how broken the funding model is. Nice work, guys.
They could've easily used a cash shop like in PoE, but nah gotta abuse cheap gatcha mechanics and dirty tricks.
i think 10M install are meant to be like 10 MAUS, so next Activision-Blizzard-King inform will likely have a jump from 22 MAUs in Blizzard to 32 Maus... i would take that in mind nex time i read these
The “sharp contrast” is not surprising at all. On the contrary this tracks with what most reviewers and players have said i.e. the game is fun and addicting but horribly monetized and rife with major, gamebreaking bugs.At its core it does what a Diablo game has always done well specifically in terms of gameplay, combat, and customization. The problem is that the mobile gaming model doesn’t not jive with the core elements of an ARPG like Diablo. The disconnect is frankly jarring for any long time fan of the franchise.Predictably, the Diablo IP is just not well suited to mobile gaming and it’s why everyone was rightly apprehensive from the moment the game was first announced. What I, and I suspect many others, did not foresee was the abysmal technical state in which the game launched. There is no excuse for the innumerable bugs, many of which directly hinder gameplay (skill lockout bug I am looking directly at your ugly face), which could not have possible been missed in testing to continue without being hotfixed after weeks. My guess is that most players will quit the game once they realize that any meaningful progression beyond a certain point becomes locked behind a massive paywall which frankly the game isn’t nearly good enough to warrant paying.Personally, I will likely call it quits once I obtain all legendaries on my character and try out the various build combinations. The only thing I spent money on was getting enough of those bundle chests to get enough of the premium currency to by the D2 cosmetic skin which amounted to about $20. There is no way in hell I will drop hundreds let alone thousands of dollar on crests and without that there really is no endgame and thus nothing to keep me playing. All I can say is I sure hope they do much, much better with D4 or they’re going to bury the franchise.
What is important to note is the numbers on the sourced website are guesstimates and not substantiated by anything else. It is really sad to see so many websites and forums peddle these numbers and people just believing them without a second thought.

D3 made 200m in the first 24 hours, not including Reaper of Souls, RMAH revenue or Necro dlc.Mobile games just can't compete with real games in the west.
So when all these people bankrupt themselves buying nothing in a video game and start living off of government handouts am I supposed to pay for them?
Funny how Blizzard thinks they profitted by 24 milwhen in reality they've lost WAY more than that on Diablo 4 sales.
