About The Cycle of Strife in Diablo Immortal Cycle of StrifeRite of Exile

This is an 8v8 PvP event carried out simultaneously in 10 battlegrounds

Immortals: The Immortal and Lieutenants send in 80 of the best Immortals (usually appointed as Elites)

Shadows: Each of the top 10 Dark Clans send their 8 strongest Shadows.

If the Shadows win at least 6 Battlegrounds, they win the Rite.

To become an Immortal, you need to be a member of one of the three Immortal clans by applying for membership.

If you aren't, you will need to apply for membership to one of these three clans.

New Immortals can be recruited at any time during the cycle, and can be either Shadows or Adventurers.

When a Dark Clan wins the Circle of Strife and becomes Immortal, they will choose 2 allied clans to become Immortals with them.

Immortals have access to the Ascension Hall, a place to access all the various activities of the Immortals.

Immortals have one Leader (The Immortal) and four Lieutenants, each of which bears a crown of power that gives special abilities. There are also Elites and Members, depending on their appointments. Elites, Lieutenants, and the Leader have more bonuses, opportunities, and interesting things to do. Members get no special bonuses.

Lieutenants are appointed by The Immortal. Elites are appointed by The Immortal and Lieutenants, and represent the raid force for the Immortals for activities such as Kion's Ordeal.

You have a better chance of earning Legendary gear doing Immortal-related tasks than you would doing Shadow-related ones.

Immortal clans can fall by failing to win at least 1/2 the games in the Rite of Exile cycle. If this happens, the old Immortal clans are replaced by the top Shadow clans, a one-week break ensues, and the Cycle begins again with new leadership.

Individual Immortals can be demoted (kicked out) for failing to provide enough or not doing enough for the clan as tracked through the Immortal Contribution system. If you're not an active daily player, the Immortals may not be for you.

You can also leave the Immortals if you choose.

Dominance - Dominance is a rating that reflects the Immortals' strength of arms and the charter of their Reign. The greater the Immortals' Contributions, the higher their Dominance. As Immortals raise their Dominance, they'll unlock features and mechanical bonuses, and leave a mightier legacy behind.

Immortal Statue - The statue on the Overlook is carved in the likeness of The Immortal whose Reign is currently active. It's unlocked by raising Dominance.

Wall of Honor - The Wall of Honor in Westmarch has chronicled the rise and fall of Immortals throughout history. The names and deeds of each Immortal Reign are emblazoned on its surface.

Immortal Banner - Each Immortal Reign has its own customizable banner. As the Immortals' Dominance rises, they will unlock more banner shapes, patterns, and insignias.

Daily Goals - As the anointed protectors of Sanctuary, the Immortals must do battle with threats to the land on a daily basis. These Daily Goals, when completed, award and other benefits.

Defend the Vault - The Immortals' wondrous Vault stores relics, equipment and vital to the Reign. As such, it's a frequent target of the Shadows. A successful defense of the Vault will earn the Immortals Hilts and more rewarding weekly Commendations.

Kion's Ordeal - By recreating the ancient ordeal of the first Immortal, Kion, Immortals demonstrate their devotion to the Reign. Officers can call a group of Elite Immortals to follow in Kion's footsteps, and divide their forces to engage four demons at once. Success means great rewards for Immortals, and the Blessing of Daedessa for both Adventurers and Immortals.

Rite of Exile - The Immortals' Reign is tested by their rivals, the Shadows. When the Shadows reach the Showdown stage, they have grown powerful enough to initiate a sacred duel between the opposing sides. If the Immortals lose, they will be overthrown.

Crown Abilities - The Immortal Leader and Lieutenants possess Crowns that grant unique, potent abilities, including boosts to Attack Speed, Critical Hit Chance, defense and healing.

The Eternal Crown - The Eternal Crown, crafted by the Builder Daedessa, secures the Immortals' power. The Crown's rank (and the strength of its bonuses) increases as your Reign grows in Dominance.

Commendations - The Immortals store powerful equipment and Gold in the Vault. Each week, the Supply Officer distributes treasures to all Immortals based on their contributions and participation within the faction.

Immortal Cosmetic - As an Immortal Reign grows in Dominance, all members unlock special cosmetics that can be worn as long as they remain a member of the faction.

Unique rewards from the Hilts Vendor - The Hilts Vendor sells to everyone, but they have a special category of items only current Immortals can purchase.

Shadows

Participate in the Shadow Lottery for a chance to become a Shadow. This event occurs three times a day for 60 minutes (in Beta this was at 12PM-1PM, 6PM-7PM and 9PM-10PM local server time). At the end of each cycle, if you are chosen, you will receive an in-game mail. If you don't, try again, or go for one of the other methods.

Receive an invitation from someone who is already a member of the Shadows. A player chosen to become a Shadow will receive an item called , which can be used to recruit another Level 43+ player. If you have a friend with , feel free to bribe them for sponsorship!

Unlike Immortals, there is no server limit to the number of Shadows on a server.

Shadows have access to the Court of Whispers, an underground lair for all Shadows on the server.

Shadows can form or join Shadow Clan by using to transform their Clan into a Shadow Clan.

There are 8 ranks of Shadow, with four subranks within each: Initiate, Apprentice, Watcher, Hunter, Blade, Phantom, Unseen, and Whisper. Each rank confers bonus Damage and Defense.

Shadows cannot leave the Shadows. They can be recruited by the Immortals and leave that way, or they can remain a Shadow for the rest of the cycle.

At the end of the cycle, all Shadows except those who become Immortals become Adventurers again, and must reapply for Shadow membership with the cycle starts again.

The Assembly - This event occurseveryday between 6PM-8PM server time. During this time, Shadows can form Dark Houses and invite other members. Random players will also receive Akeba's Blessings, buffs that can be shared with other players. There are 4 possible Blessings: Strength, Vision, Sacrifice, and Cunning.

Weekly Contracts - Shadows can get a daily Contract from the bartender in Wolf Tavern which outlines storyline missions to test the Immortals -- less routine that the things you'd do as an Immortal. Rewards items, experience and progression through your Shadow Rank.

Raid the Vault - Attempt to steal stored gear, and gold from the Vault of the Immortals.

Path of Blood - Test your abilities against a short Rift-like experience that will allow you to earn s, which go toward increasing your rank within the Shadows.

Shadow Wars - These are twice-weekly pwars against other Dark Clans ithin the Shadows. These are used to practice for the final phases of the Cycle of Strife and to decide which Clan are the 10 bests. Clans must sign up to participate.

Improving your rank gives stacking bonuses of %1 Damage and Defense per rank. The maximum level of Rank 32, which will give you a 32% bonus to both!

You have a chance to steal items through the Raid the Vault activity.

Weekly Contracts reward experience, Gold, s, and a chance to earn a Legendary item. If you complete 3 contracts within a week, you'll be eligible to loot Shadow Chests that award 700x s. The assembly rewards with s, experience and Aspirant Keys.

Go to the Ancient Arena in Bilefen

Explore the Ancient Arena examine the glowing symbols

Defeat Returned Mages and Warriors

If you are not yet level 43 at this stage, you'll just get a Guide notation to get to level 43, at which time this quest becomes available.

Go to Westmarch Cathedral (Selynne's Basilica)

Place the Timeworn Scroll on the platform inside the cathedral (cue cutscene)

Go to the Immortal area of Westmarch east of the Challenge/Elder rifts and talk to The Unspoken.

Go east of the Unspoken and click the table next to the Wall of Honor.

Speak to Kion and hand him the Timeworn Scroll (cue cutscene)

Enter Kion's Memory (a story dungeon) and fight in a mock version of the Challenge of the Immortal, where you play The Immortal. Your normal abilities are replaced by Immortal abilities.

Go to the Court of Whispers and speak to the Unspoken in the Assembly hall.

Meet Akeba, and hand her the Timeworn Scroll (another cutscene).

Enter Akeba's Memory (another story dungeon) and play the same Challenge of the Immortal, this time from the perspective of a Shadow. Defeat The Immortal and then defeat the other Shadows. You have your own abilities to do this.

Leave the Memory, return to the Assembly, and you'll get the message that Shadows have been unlocked.

Immortal - Apply to join one of the existing Immortal Clans (not available in first cycle after launch).

Shadow - Talk to the Mysterious Patron about entering the Shadow Lottery to become a Shadow (see the guide below under Becoming a Shadow).

Shadow - Join the Shadows by having a friend or a member of your chosen Dark Clan give you an .

Adventurer - Go on your merry way and ignore this part of the game.

The Rite of Exile in Diablo Immortal Rite of Exile Cycle of Strife

If the Immortals win at least half (5) of these battles, the Immortals remain in power and the Cycle of Strife continues.

If the Shadows win more than half (6 or more) of these battles, they proceed to the Challenge of The Immortal.

Rite of Exile requires 3 wins before proceeding to the Challenge of the Immortal.

The Challenge of The Immortal

If The Immortal triumphs, the Immortals remain in power and the Cycle of Strife continues.

If the Shadows defeat The Immortal 3 times, the 30 Shadows are resurrected and proceed to the Final Battle.

Cycle's Turn in Diablo Immortal

The winning Dark Clan becomes the new Immortals. Their Clan name turns gold.

All remaining Dark Clans revert to being normal Clans, and the Clan name turns from green to orange. All former Shadows now become Adventurers and must start over.

The Shadow Lottery starts back up again.

The new Immortal choose 2 allied clans.
