This Diablo Immortal Cavern of Echoes dungeon guide provides a deep-dive into the bosses, strategy, monsters and Set Items found in the dungeon. It is located in Frozen Tundra zone and is unlocked at level 50.
Each dungeon is unlocked via Story quest progression as you level through level 1-60. More dungeons will be added as new content is introduced.
Frozen Tundra Zone Guide
Overview
"Within the Cavern of Echoes lies a stone that emanates a creeping chill: the Iceburn Tear. Formed from flesh of the rapacious souls who sought to claim the stone's power, the Glacial Colossus serves as its guardian."
The Cavern of Echoes is located in the Frozen Tundra zone. The dungeon can be unlocked at level 50, early during the Frozen Tundra story. In order to chase Dravec into the realm of Death, you must venture into the Cavern of Echoes to acquire the Iceburn Tear. This stone allows the bearer to enter the realm of Death. Tassi says that wielding the Iceburn Tear gives death much less authority over a mortal's life.
The Cavern of Echoes dungeon entrance is located east of the Bitter Hearth Waypoint in the Frozen Tundra zone. Follow the road across the Everfrost Lake, then north.
Cutscene Intro
Every dungeon in Diablo Immortal starts with a cutscene intro stylized in the same fashion as those found in Diablo III. The animated artwork is a continuation of the zone's story.
Tassi:
The chill of death. If you are to survive it, you must acquire the Iceburn Tear. Harness its power. Lest death swallow you whole. For if you cannot endure the cold of this world, there will be no mercy for you in the next.
Cavern of Echoes Dungeon
Cavern of Echoes has two bosses: Bloodrime and Glacial Colossus. Bloodrime is a massive Yeti; and the Glacial Colossus is the second biggest boss in the game so far, except for Zaka in the Pits of Anguish (Burning Hells).
The Cavern of Echoes is one of the dungeons that have random-generated mobs. Sometimes you will see Ice Clan Khazra. Other times you will see Frozen Horrors.
Ground Level
The dungeon is divided in three sections. For the purpose of this guide, I will refer to them as Ground Level, Sub-Ground Level A and Sub-Ground Level B.
This clarification is for the purpose of explaining Bonus Kill. You can't keep a Bonus Kill count while mobilizing from section to section as there are no mobs in between to keep the Bonus Kill count ongoing up to 100.
The Ground Level is where you enter the dungeon up to where Bloodrime is encountered. During the fight, he slams the ground and shatters it. Bloodrime and all players fall down to the Sub-Ground Level A. Following that path leads to a dead end where you have to kick a pillar to create a bridge. Crossing the bridge leads to Sub-Ground Level B where you find the Glacial Colossus.
A Crusader or Barbarian should run straight to the center of the Ground Level, toward group #2. Do some damage until your team catches up to assist you. There are 6 mobs in Group #1, and initially 6 mobs at Group #2. However, once some of the mobs in Group #2 die, a second wave spawns that jump down from high ground adding 4 additional mobs. In total you should get a 16 kill counting both Groups.
Be very careful with Group #2. There is usually a Arreat Mauler (Polar Bear) that maul-spams an area doing heavy damage. Keep at a distance and dodge maul attacks by moving around the Arreat Mauler while attacking him. If you stay stationary, it will easily drop you below 20% Health in a few maul attacks.
Before all mobs die, the Crusader or Barbarian should run straight to Group #4 to keep the Bonus Kill counter active. Another Arreat Mauler (Polar Bear) spawns in Group #3 and a second wave (of 4 mobs) for a total of 10 mobs at Group #3. Group #4 spawns 7 mobs, and two of them do loads of damage: Glacial Monstrosity (Yeti) x 2.
These two Glacial Monstrosity need to be killed very fast after clearing all other mobs. The Glacial Monstrosity throws a big snowball that rolls in one direction, then ricochets at walls and return.
Another ability that needs to be dodged is an icy breath that continuously damages players in its cone-shaped area-of-effect.
Killing all 35 mobs within the Bonus Kill count should reward 10.9K bonus XP. Once all mobs have died, tap the icy barrier to break through the Ice.
Bloodrime - Phase 1
Run to the end of the platform. This triggers Bloodrime to climb the pillar and land on the platform.
Bloodrime will sometimes channel an ability that draws a large circle in front of him. Inside, another circle begins to grow outwards toward the edge of the larger circle. One both circles are the same size, Bloodrime will pummel that area.
Bloodrime reaches out into the ground and creates a rock ball that he hurls in a player's direction rolling across the room and ricocheting at a wall, rolling back in a direction. Avoid this rock's path.
When Bloodrime draws a teal path on the ground, move away. He will pummel both hands on the ground in that direction.
Bloodrime - Phase 2
After losing 1 health bubble and a half, Bloodrime will howl and stun all players causing 1/4 health damage to all players. If you are half-Health, make sure to preemptively run to a Health Globe or drink a Health Potion before Phase 2 kicks in. Once you land in the Sub-Ground Level after Bloodrime shatters the platform you might die if Bloodrime charges in your direction.
Bloodrime will immediately slam the ground shattering the platform. Bloodrime and all players fall to the Sub-Ground Level A. In this phase 2, Bloodrime will have a different set of abilities. Whenever you see the teal path, move away from it. There are two variations of this teal path. In one, he will slam his fists on the ground creating an icy shockwave in that direction.
The second version, which is the one he spams the most, Bloodrime charges in that direction and knocks himself into a wall. This is where all players should DPS him down as he is stunned for a couple of seconds.
While all this is happening, be aware to move away from the blue circles popping all over the place on the ground. That means that icy shards come crashing down from the ceiling, stunning players inside an icy prison for a couple of seconds. This can be lethal if Bloodrime charges in your direction while stunned.
Other times, Bloodrime will draw a teal circle on the ground. You have less than 2 seconds to move away before he leaps into the air and lands there.
Often, Bloodrime will summon 4 mobs: Feral Yeti and Wendigo. You should AOE these along with the boss whenever possible.
TIP: Ideally, you want Bloodrime to charge vertically or diagonally at the corners -- which is a shorter path where you can reach him quickly when he is stunned after he charges into a wall.
Sub-Ground Level A
After the icy wall is destroyed, continue moving along the path. A Crusader or Barbarian should run through all the way to the Icy Pillar tapping mobs along the way, then run back where there is enough room to maneuver, while your team catches up. Other players should walk along the walls to force several waves of Icy Maggots to spawn. Pulling all mobs in that path you might be killing about 35 mobs total for a Bonus Kill XP.
Be super careful with the Frost Horror Overlord. This mob has a lethal ability. When he extends his arm forward, he stands idle channeling an ability that launches 5-6 icy shard missiles in that direction. However, those missiles chase the target. The missiles can be dodged, as their tracking is sloppy, but not to be ignored. These 5-6 missiles can get you down to 20% health in no time if you are a melee class that can't notice this ability with all the visual spam onscreen.
Tap the Kick button to kick over the Ice Pillar. This creates a bridge to walk across to Sub-Ground Level B.
Sub-Ground Level B
From the bridge up to the Frozen Gate, icy shards will continuously drop from the ceiling -- you will see teal circles drawn on the ground. Walk away from those circles so that your character is not frozen and stunned for 2-3 seconds. This area has many mobs frozen in ice. Destroying the ice frees them. This area is good sometimes as it might randomly spawn blue rare elite packs or yellow rare elites.
Make your way to the Frozen Gate. Careful with the Frost Horror Overlord at the Frozen Gate. This is the mob that launches 5-6 missiles that can get a melee class player down to 20% Health.
Tap the Frozen Gate to breach it, then run toward the last boss' platform.
Glacial Colossus
Kill the three groups of mobs around the platform to summon the Glacial Colossus.
Those need to die quickly because the icy shard above the Glacial Colossus will spam missiles in all directions every 5 seconds until all of the mobs are killed. The shard will glow brightly a couple seconds before it launches the missiles. Keep an eye on that to get out of the way of the missiles' path.
Soon after the Glacial Colossus emerges from the ground, it will face in the direction of a target player or minion, then cast a shockwave that rises ice shards from beneath the ground causing damage to players caught in that cone-shaped AOE.
The Glacial Colossus will sometimes create a bullseye effect on the ground with three circles (or rings) around him. After a few seconds, shards of ice emerge from the ground damaging players caught in it and knocking them back. Melee can simply walk beneath the Glacial Colossus where it is safe to stand, or stand in between the three rings.
The Glacial Colossus summons 4 Chilling Construct that need to be killed quickly.
When the Glacial Colossus loses about 1 Health bubble and a half or less, he enters Phase 2. He burrows below the ground. Immediately, you have to run to the bottom-center of the platform. The Icy hard will emanate two laser beams, and rotate in 360 degrees around the platform. Any player caught by the laser beam is going to lose a lot of Health or die. 4-teal circles spawn on the ground. A few seconds later, a big ice chunk drops from the ceiling damaging players caught in it and freezing them into an ice block. Do not get trapped in an ice block. However, you can use those chunks of ice as a shield standing behind them. The laser beam won't damage you if you hide behind the ice chunk, serving as a protective wall.
The goal in Phase 2 is to kill the Chill Constructs and any mob as quickly as possible to trigger the Glacier Colossus to emerge from the ground.
When Glacier Colossus has only 1 health and a half remaining, the next Phase kicks in. He burrows into the icy ground and now shoots 3 laser beams instead. You must immediately stand in the bottom side of the platform when he burrows. That's a safe spot. The 3 laser beams rotate 360 degrees counter-clockwise. In the image below, you see where the mobs spawn. The objective is to quickly kill the mobs that spawn to end this phase and force the boss to emerge from the ground.
Throughout the encounter, sometimes the Glacier Colossus will put the giant ice shard located atop his body on the ground. When you see this ice shard on the ground, move away quickly. It is going to pepper missiles in all directions. The green asterisks below show you where to move to a safe place when you see this happen. This ability can easily lower your health by 50% -- especially melee class players who get caught in close range of this shard. That ice shard spams missiles 3-4 times in a row.
A portal spawns after the Glacier Colossus dies, to leave the dungeon. Check around the platform in case there is loot offscreen laying around. There is a chance in Hell difficulties to drop Set Items (listed further below in this guide).
