Countdown to the Launch of Diablo 4
Having trouble remembering when you'll be able to log into Sanctuary again? Reddit user

created a handy countdown timer detailing Early Access and full Worldwide releases. Not only that, but they're looking to track World Boss timers and developer livestreams as well - stay tuned for that update on this great site!
Diablo 4 Release Countdown
World Tier Difficulty
World Tier difficulty can mean the difference between a slow slog through leveling and an easy breeze while you mow down mobs. Choosing a World Tier is easy: you'll be prompted to choose between World Tier I and World Tier II while making your character, and can then freely change between available difficulties in major cities by using the World Tier Statues. While neither of the two starting World Tier difficulties are overly punishing, depending on your style of play, you may prefer one over the other:
World Tier I is recommended for players who may not have a lot of time to sink into the game; enemies are easier, thus leveling is faster, and you can breeze through the main story to get into the endgame quickly.
World Tier II is recommended for players familiar with Diablo games and ARPGs as a whole; offering more of a challenge, monsters are harder to kill, give increased experience, and drop more gold.
Don't Forget:
Once you finish the game once on Softcore, you'll also unlock campaign skips for all modes - meaning World Tier I may not be a bad choice for players looking to learn the game and open opportunities for other game modes.
Campaign and Open World Progression
While we're all excited about the campaign and storyline of Diablo 4, the real meat of the game is the endgame. Absorbing the story while making your way through the campaign quickly is key!
Many systems such as Mounts, Renown, and Altars of Lilith are account-wide unlocks, making them key systems to interact with for anyone looking to play alts
Make sure your party's campaign progress is in sync - if you don't receive quest rewards for quests you've never done, you are out of sync. Having the party leader be the player with the
least
progression in the campaign can fix this
Cellars and Events are worth your time - they have a high chance of dropping Rare loot, Obols, Gems, and quite a bit of experience!
Entering a new region changes the location of your Town Portal: you can quickly make it to a zone's major town this way before Waypoints are unlocked
Claim your Renown rewards! Doing almost anything in a zone earns Renown, and this earns you Skill and Paragon points - crucial to the leveling process
Don't Forget:
The campaign is approximately 35 hours long, and as such your class of choice for the first playthrough should be something you really like. If you're having trouble picking out what fits, check out our Class and Build Guides!

Artisans and Vendors
Artisans and Vendors are systems that will provide a lot of depth to the leveling process, and while it may be tempting to power through and figure them out later, that would be unwise. Players have quite a bit of power locked behind item upgrades, which may be a bit of an obtuse system at first glance.
Item Power thresholds exist on items that determine the possible affix ranges that can roll. For example:
A Rare Chest Armor at 330 Item Power has Fire Resistance with an affix range between 10.4% - 18.5%
A Rare Chest Armor at 340 Item Power has Fire Resistance with an affix range between 15.4% - 25.8%
There are certain known thresholds where, if you upgrade at a Vendor and hit this breakpoint, you can give yourself a drastic boost in stats:
150 Item Power
340 Item Power
460 Item Power
625 Item Power
725 Item Power
Don't Forget:
Don't try to min-max your gear while leveling! There's plenty of time for that at the endgame; during the Campaign, upgrades will be coming fast, so don't be afraid to make regular swap outs.
Diablo 4 Vendor Overviews Diablo 4 Crafting Materials Overview
Blacksmith
The Blacksmith will be incredibly powerful in endgame, but that doesn't mean it's a useless system prior to reaching World Tier IV.
Don't be afraid to upgrade your weapons and armor a few times - the costs are relatively cheap and it's almost free power. If you have to choose between one or the other, prioritize your weapons.
Strike a balance between salvaging and selling your gear, since you'll want both the gold and the upgrade materials
Don't Forget:
Legendaries can both be salvaged for materials and brought to the Occultist to extract their Aspect. If you've got a drop-only Aspect, it may be best to prioritize extraction over salvage.
Jeweler
Everyone's inner Treasure Goblin loves shiny things, and the Jeweler can help you get the best.
The Jeweler unlocks at level 20, so make sure you do the quick introductory quest
If an item doesn't inherently have sockets, don't discard it if it's an upgrade - sockets can be added through the Jeweler upgrade system
Similarly to the Blacksmith, don't be afraid to upgrade your jewelry a few times when material costs are low
Don't Forget:
Your inventory will likely be filled with tons of lower-quality Gems as you adventure through Sanctuary. These can be combined into higher qualities, so don't throw them away!
Alchemist
You'll be finding herbs throughout your adventures, and the Alchemist is the place to use them. Make sure you're taking advantage of upgrades as they become available.
Don't forget to upgrade your health potions every 10 levels - you don't want to be caught in a dangerous situation while only able to heal a small sliver of your health
Elixirs are useful even at low levels - they offer an experience bonus and last 30 minutes, including through death, and as such are a perfect leveling tool
Don't Forget:
While we don't know much about Incense, this will also be created at the Alchemist, and will likely provide stat bonuses which will be incredibly valuable. Keep an eye out for updated information once the game launches.
Occultist
One of the most powerful Vendors, the Occultist lets you customize items that aren't inherently Legendary into a new Legendary item by applying and extracting Aspects. You'll want to be familiar with this Vendor as soon as possible!
You can unlock this vendor early by acquiring a Codex of Power Aspect from any dungeon - otherwise, you'll have to wait until level 25
Your weapon will change much more frequently than an amulet, so don't Imprint your weapon right away; choose a more stable slot that won't be upgraded every few quests to get the most of your Aspect through the leveling process
Don't Forget:
Some Aspects are Drop-Only, so when you're done using them, recycle them with the Occultist.
Purveyor of Curiosities (Gambling)
While we're all for rolling the dice on a piece of loot, your Obols are good for more than just gambling.
Carry at least one Whispering Key on you for when you find a Silent Chest. You never know if you'll be put into a different phase when you take your Town Portal back, missing out on your window for loot
Don't Forget:
Obols have a cap, so don't waste them! It's better to stock up on keys than overcap.
Unique Class Mechanics
Each Class has a Unique Mechanic that sets them apart in the crowd. Whether you're blessed by the spirits of nature as a Druid or hot-swapping Specializations on the fly as a Rogue, one thing is certain - you'll want to unlock this mechanic as soon as possible.
Class Mechanics unlock at level 15, so you'll want to make it a priority to complete the relevant quests
Don't Forget:
Unique Class Mechanics can be build enabling. Don't get distracted and deprive yourself of this massive power boost!

Options
Making sure your options are set is the most crucial step to getting ready for a play session: you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't tweak to perfection before loading into the game.
Graphics
Some graphics settings allow for a better gameplay experience, especially in regards to those packed tooltips!
Be sure to set your font scale to
small
to keep tooltips compact and help prevent the scrolling issue many players disliked
Change your cursor size to
medium
or
large
, depending on preference, to allow for better visibility of your mouse cursor in the heat of battle
Don't Forget:
There are many graphical options to choose from, including many accessibility options - taking a few minutes at first to ensure your needs are met lets you play in comfort longer.
Sound
Some players have audio sensitivities, and Blizzard kept this in mind; accessibility isn't just for the visual spectrum.
Players annoyed by constant "I'm out of Energy" or "I can't do that yet" messages can turn off audio on Player Error Messages
For additional audio cues on loot and mouseover, Blizzard has allowed you to select which types of items will play an additional sound
Don't Forget:
Audio queues aren't just for those who may need them to play the game, they can also be used to aid in farming specific pieces. Choose the slot you want to be extra aware of and you'll get an extra notification!
Gameplay
The meat and potatoes of options: here you can find things to help with strobing effects, motion sickness, and more.
Players prone to motion sickness can turn off Screen Shake Effects to mitigate any potential issues
Flashing lights can be mitigated by turning off Combat Hit Flash
It's recommended to turn Advanced Tooltip Compare and Advanced Tooltip Information on, as this gives you more information on your gear when comparing potential upgrades and reviewing ranges on affixes
Be sure to enable Display Player Highlight to allow you to find your character in combat-heavy scenarios or otherwise awkward corners and scenery
Don't Forget:
All the mitigation in the world is nothing compared to taking a break every once in a while. You'll come back refreshed and ready to roll!
Controls
Some players love keybinds, others prefer clicking. There's a control setup for everyone, and making sure you have the proper layout for your playstyle is worth your time.
Your Action Wheel isn't just for emotes - you can bind things such as Elixirs here for quick use, and action wheel inputs can further be keybound to use at the click of a button instead of having to open the wheel every time.
Don't Forget:
Many side quests utilize the Action Wheel and emotes, as well as the crucial Leave Dungeon feature. Get used to your action wheel and be familiar with your options!
