"Make Online Matter": Diablo 4 BlizzCon Interview Roundup - AnnacakeLive & Tiffany Wat, Force Gaming & Rod Fergusson

BlizzCon gave us a ton of interviews with the Diablo staff and various content creators - we've summarized a few of them, this time with AnnacakeLive and Force Gaming!
BlizzCon is always a treasure trove full of information on upcoming features, reasoning behind development decisions, and thoughtful commentary from Blizzard. With so many interviews happening at once, though, things get overwhelming - so we're summarizing Diablo 4 interviews that occurred during the convention for those that might not have time to watch them in full. Diablo 4 features a continuous landmass which made it very natural to go to Nahantu next
Blizzard knows what class archetype is missing in Diablo 4 and wanted to tie it to the theme of the region in Vessel of Hatred. The new class for the expansion will be revealed in 2024
The Druid's wolves are modeled off of Tiffany Wat's Husky which has also been used for animation reference. They have also recorded the Husky's sounds which have not been used ingame for the wolves itself but for some of the monsters
Even though Vessel of Hatred is releasing in Late 2024, Blizzard has not settled on future expansion releases being annual or not
Tiffany Wat mentioned that she loves pets in Diablo 3 but also in Torchlight as they carry items for the character
When being asked about raids in Diablo 4, Wat replied that the World Bosses are fun because you get to partner with other people and she hopes that they can expand upon that in the future
One of Blizzard's core pillars for Diablo 4 is "make online matter". They want to offer new opportunities for groups to play
Tiffany Wat agrees that a "Gates of Ahn'Qiraj"-style event would be a cool idea for Diablo 4

Force Gaming with Rod Fergusson
Besides leveling the new Unique Paragon Glyph, Abattoir of Zir can also be used to level regular Paragon Glyphs up to Level 21
Announcing the class early without revealing it was deliberate to set expectations for players. With the new region being Nahantu, players might have likely expected the Witch Doctor to make a return otherwise
Breakdown of all the teams working on Diablo 4:
Live Service team, working on balancing and everything that comes up in the moment
Odd Season team, working on Season 1 and 3
Even Season team, working on Season 2 and 4
Expansion 1 team, working on the Vessel of Hatred expansion
Expansion 2 team, working on the second expansion for Diablo 4
Endgame and itemization are currently the biggest priorities for the devs
Blizzard is aware that people want a loot filter for Diablo 4. It is something the devs are heading towards but there are multiple ways to do it and the devs are trying to find the right way that is more nuanced and sophisticated
The recent change of turning certain loot into crafting material when it is dropping is a step in the right direction
Filtering for certain item affixes through a loot filter is something that they could see happening in the future
When a PvP arena for Diablo 4 was brought up, Rod responded that they are always looking to grow the PvP experience in Diablo 4 and they know that competition is very important but there is nothing to announce at the moment
The current focus is on PvE in Diablo 4
The devs are taking inspiration from Diablo 2 when it comes to building the region of Nahantu for Diablo 4 but it won't be a one to one remaster of the zones from Diablo 2
To break up the look and feel of Diablo 4, Blizzard decided upon Nahantu, with its tropical jungle, as the next region
Blizzard is hoping to have the big reveal for Vessel of Hatred in early Summer of 2024, more specifically "probably in about 6 months or so"
When asked about Raids for Diablo 4, Rod responded "I don't know. That would be an interesting place one could go."
New players will not have to play through the original story of Diablo 4 to be able to experience the story of Vessel of Hatred. There will be a recap for the story that took place before the expansion
